This is the Accra to Kumasi road This is the reason why anyone who spoke against the Accra–Kumasi Expressway is a nation-wrecker Thousands of people die on this narrow road each year This old Accra to Kumasi road is simply too narrow and dangerous. An expressway is a MUST

Accra–Kumasi Expressway Project This historic project marks Ghana’s first true expressway, a modern high-speed corridor linking Accra and Kumasi. Stretching almost 200 kilometres from the coast to the forest belt, the expressway will transform travel and trade, cut journey times significantly, and boost growth across the southern regions. The route runs southeast to northwest through the Greater Accra, Eastern, and Ashanti regions, touching key towns like Adeiso, Asamankese, Akim Oda, Ofoase, and Kwaso. In total, the highway covers 198.7 kilometres, including 23 kilometres of urban connecting sections in Accra and Kumasi built to a 4-lane standard at 60 kilometres per hour, and a 175-kilometre main expressway of 6 lanes designed for speeds up to 120 kilometres per hour. It will stand as a symbol of Ghana’s commitment to modernisation, connectivity, and inclusive growth.

NPP Communications Team Member, Paul Yandoh, has once again raised concerns about the military being involved in the clearing of the Accra-Kumasi Expressway and the payment of compensation to affected residents. He expressed concern that some residents may feel intimidated by the presence of military officers and could be forced to accept whatever compensation is offered, even if it does not fully cover the value of their losses.
