Accra–Kumasi Expressway Project This historic project marks Ghana’s first true expressway, a modern high-speed corridor linking Accra and Kumasi. Stretching almost 200 kilometres from the coast to the forest belt, the expressway will transform travel and trade, cut journey times significantly, and boost growth across the southern regions. The... route runs southeast to northwest through the Greater Accra, Eastern, and Ashanti regions, touching key towns like Adeiso, Asamankese, Akim Oda, Ofoase, and Kwaso. In total, the highway covers 198.7 kilometres, including 23 kilometres of urban connecting sections in Accra and Kumasi built to a 4-lane standard at 60 kilometres per hour, and a 175-kilometre main expressway of 6 lanes designed for speeds up to 120 kilometres per hour.
