Marc Andreessen on why the founder model keeps winning: "You're much more likely to build something important in the 21st century if you start with a founder and train them on management, than you are to start with the manager and try to train them on being a founder." "All the old incumbent institutions in the last hundred years that are run by managers... they're all collapsing in trust and credibility because they can't adapt." "When Mark [Zuckerberg] started Facebook, he had never had a job before. Not only had he not managed people, he had not worked for anybody." "His learning curve was vertical." "He spends an enormous amount of time learning how to become better at running these things at large scale. He's still the founder and he's still the innovator and he's still like a fountain of ideas on what to do." "He's the classic example of the double threat." "And then what happens is other founders look at that and they're like, 'oh, I could do that.'" Marc Andreessen 🇺🇸 with David Senra

Why a16z Invested $300M into Adam Neumann: "At the height of the WeWork meltdown, I talked to a friend of mine who is one of the legends of the real estate world. He said, "Whatever people say about this whole thing, he said, there are only two people in the history of the world who have built compelling brands where people care about the name on the building for commercial real estate and the history of the entire world. And he said one of them is the President of the United States, and the other is Adam Neumman. This guy is a generational talent in that industry... we got to know him after that. I became thoroughly convinced that he was a generational talent. We're very happy with that investment." Marc Andreessen 🇺🇸

13,000 employees became 3 in the space of one week. It’s quite difficult to comprehend what that would do to a person. Adam Neumann is the co-founder of WeWork. He grew the company to a $47 billion valuation before its failed IPO, his departure as CEO and one of the most public corporate collapses in recent history. I’ve met hundreds of extraordinary people doing this podcast, but within a few minutes of meeting Adam I realised he was quite unlike almost any founder or CEO I’ve met before. There’s a depth, philosophy and perspective to him that is incredibly rare. So I wanted to understand where that came from and what the last few years had actually done to him. We talked about: - His relationship with money and where it went wrong. - The friends who disappeared when everything changed. - The mistakes he made as a leader. - Why he now surrounds himself with people willing to tell him no. - Why he disconnects from technology for 24 hours every week. One thing that stayed with me is how easy it is to believe in yourself when everything is going up and everybody wants to be around you. The more interesting question is what you believe when everything is crashing. You can have your own view on Adam and WeWork. That tension is partly why I found this conversation so interesting. I wanted to know what all of it taught him. Out now on all platforms ❤️👊🏾

.Chamath Palihapitiya says President Trump is completely different from how he is portrayed by the media. "He is charismatic. He's intellectually sharp, and he's funny. And when you put that together, he can engage an audience for a long time and be totally extemporaneous. The other thing I would say is that he is very polite. And he's kind in a way that was disarming and was not what I expected." "And so I felt that I had misjudged him many years in the past. And so I was very glad that I had an opportunity to sit beside him and to actually interact with him one-on-one. It was really engaging." "It was not just a pro-America agenda, but it was very clear that he was pro-innovation. So he was really supportive of AI in the details that he talked about, he was very supportive of crypto in those details. And he's very much low regulation, low taxation. And so when you put that together, it does stand very much in contrast with what the alternative is." "So it's us talking, and he says, you guys are a really beautiful couple. And I said, well, thank you. And then he turns to me, and he goes, well, you must be really rich. And I started laughing out loud. Natalie thought he was hilarious."

Pete Seat: “Listen to [Don Lemon] when he's in the church and he's cheering them on. And he's saying, this is what you do. This is what you do. You have to make people uncomfortable.” “He was pointing out that people were scared and afraid and the fact he was taking a victory lap.” “He also told them, I'm happy that you're doing this. I'm glad that you're doing.” Abby Phillip: “Did you see the parts where he was interviewing the parishioners?” Pete Seat: “Yes. And I also saw when the pastor asked him to leave and he refused to leave for seven minutes.” Adam Mockler: “I didn't see a single moment where Don Lemon conspired with the others to further this crime. He was there reporting the entire time.” Pete Seat: “He knew about it in advance... He admitted that he knew about it.” Lock him up!

Trump: Now they'll say all these stories are terrible. Well, these stories have, you know, you heard my story in the boat with the shark, right? I got killed on that. They thought I was rambling. I'm not rambling. We can't get the boat to float. The battery is so heavy. So then I start talking about asking questions. You know, I have an, I had an uncle who was a great professor at MIT for many years, long, I think the longest tenure ever. Very smart, had three different degrees and you know, so I have an aptitude for things. You know, there is such a thing as an aptitude. I said, well, what would happen if this boat is so heavy and started to sink and you're on the top of the boat. Do you get electrocuted or not? In other words, the boat is going down and you're on the top, will the electric currents flow through the water and wipe you out? And let's say there's a shark about 10 yards over there. Would I have to immediately abandon or could I ride the electric down and he said, sir, nobody's ever asked us that question. But sir, I don't know. I said, well, I want to know because I guarantee you one thing, I don't care what happens. I'm staying with the electric, I'm not getting over with it. So I tell that story. And the fake news they go, he told this crazy story with electric. It's actually not crazy. It's sort of a smart story, right? Sort of like, you know, it's like the snake, it's a smart when you, you figure what you're leaving in, right? You're bringing it in the, you know, the snake, right? The snake and the snake. I tell that and they do the same thing

💥NEW: John Fetterman and Greta Van Susteren share personal stories showing Trump's character🇺🇸 Fetterman: "He even checked in on my dad! My dad's having a real difficult situation health about his heart — and he absolutely checked in on that." Van Susteren: "A lot of people don't see that side of Trump." "Years ago — before he even ran for president — I was covering a story of this down-and-out soldier who had PTSD. And I got a call from Trump asking me what his address was." "I said, 'I don't know his address. Why?' He said, 'Because I want to help the guy.' And I said, 'Well, I don't know.'" "He said, 'I’ll tell you what, I'll send you a check — and you find him.'" "So he hangs up the phone — and the next day I get a FedEx from Donald Trump with a personal check to the guy for $25,000!" This is the side of Trump the media doesn't want you to hear about. They want you to think he is a monster. But these stories reveal how caring and generous he is. The real test of someone's character is what he does when nobody is watching.

.Marc Andreessen 🇺🇸's recipe for a great founder: two traits and one choice. The traits: intellect and energy. The choice: courage. Courage is pain tolerance. “A huge amount of what people have to do is just get used to getting punched. And the reason people don't understand this is because when you're a founder, you cannot let on that this is happening because it will cause people to think that you're weak, and they'll lose faith in you. So you have to pretend that you're having a great time when you're dying inside.”

And once he's got you, you're not safer. You're more at risk. So I need everyone out there listening to just stand up and steel your spine."

Reporter: Trump has accused you of ignoring— Biden: He's lying and the governor told him he was lying. I've spoken to the governor.. I don't know why he does this and the reason I get so angry about it, I don't care about what he says about me, but I care what he communicates to the people that are in need. He implies that we're not doing everything possible. We are. I assume you heard the Republican Governor of Georgia talk about that. He was on the phone with me more than once. So that's simply not true. And it's irresponsible.

It affects you a little bit. Like you just want to do enough so people get off like it wasn’t me. You know what I mean? Like sh*t and to be the person and player that we know he can be like he was one of the best 4th quarter players in the NBA for years.” (Via Club520podcast)

Ben Affleck revealed he had to get Michael Jordan’s approval before making Air, including what could and couldn’t be in the movie. Ben Affleck: ...not going to do anything that you're not down with. So, if you want to give me a couple hours, sit down and tell me like what's real, what's not, and what you care about, you know, I... and he was like, "All right, cool. Come out to my golf course." So, flew out there... Matt Barnes: How was that? Ben Affleck: It was sick. You know what I mean? Like, damn, it's good to be Michael Jordan, it turns out. Stephen Jackson: 36 holes, right? Ben Affleck: It's crazy, yeah. Nobody's there except him and his boys. It's just like that thing, you know? And um, he... I went, waited for my man to finish, you know what I mean? They're like, "Mike will be like soon." I was like, "I'm not going anywhere. I'm cool." And when he got done, he was like, "So, what... what is this?" you know? And I said, "Look, it's the story of your Nike deal, basically, and you know, what happened around then, and here's..." I had sent him the script, and I kind of talked him through it a little bit.
