Adam Silver on the second apron: "The point was to design a system - I'm not embarrassed to say more NFL like where every team was put in a position where regardless of market size, they could compete for championships. Eight different champions over the last eight years. That... show more

It’s to punishing, super teams make sports more compelling and all the better when they lose.

You don’t make it easier for teams to compete for titles by hamstringing rosters who build up talent correctly. Fix contracts, The NBA currently makes Reagonomics look like child’s play. Teams can’t even afford to keep their starting five together let alone their whole rotation

This is the worst commissioner in Sports by far

Vince Goodwill: "[Players union head] spoke about 2nd apron…punitive effects…When you see team…draft max players but have to trade them…Does that make you want to change…? Adam Silver "It's not unintended consequence…every GM's going to need to make mixed basketball & business decisions…people manage to budgets…any business…The purpose of the system is to create competition & from that standpoint it's working incredibly well…8 different champions last 8 years…We just saw a Finals between the largest market & one of the smallest…In terms of collective bargaining…it's players' right to bring up any issues they want…every CBA is the result of a series of compromises & that's what this one is"

Jamie Dimon was asked about Erebor at Hill & Valley. It was my favorite moment of the day: "I wish them success. We have millions of competitors. If they can do something better than we can, go for it — that's competition. We've lost a lot to competitors over the years. We've done a lot well, but we also didn't build Stripe. We didn't do some of what Block did. We didn't do Revolut. I want to stay conscious of that. We know we get our asses kicked every now and then. And if they do a great job for a certain constituency, I can compete with them and do better — or they can compete with me and do better. Both are fine."

"I think for the first part of the season, a fair number of games, I think we were a pretty stingy team with that collective effort, especially on the defensive side of the puck. I think we've lost a little bit of that just attention to detail and just collective play, cooperative play as a group. It's a whole lot more difficult to beat collective effort than it is to beat isolated effort. I think we're not quite connected like we were and that's what we've got to get back to." - Mike Sullivan

James Talarico: If Adam Smith saw the kind of crony capitalist system we have today, he would be rolling over in his grave. And so what I'm trying to get back to is OG capitalism, where we actually reward work instead of wealth. I'm all for success. I want an economy that creates fewer trillionaires and more millionaires. Right now our tax system literally taxes work more than it taxes wealth. And I think that's backwards.

"And I think there was, my fans last year were telling me to remind me of who I am, and now I'm having to show up each weekend and try to do that." "I think it's great to see that it's like a rejuvenated love in the team. And I think their belief also in me and the decision in hiring me and everything. So I'm very happy."

“The last time that we were touring and stuff, I think touring is quite an isolating experience. And on top of that, when we started touring, it was 2021, so it was kind of like still depths of the pandemic. We were like one of the first tours to go back out. So I think that tour started in that way where it was like, I was really bubbled up even kind of within the tour. And then staying on that tour, we put an album out and it ended up being like two and a half years type time. It's just a long time to be in like a bubble where you're not really spending that much time like in the world around you, other than shows and hotels and stuff. And when I finished, I kind of went off and was spending a lot of time in Italy, and was kind of like having this quiet time, and I was just feeling a lot of my life as I was kind of like, craving like quiet and kind of like private spaces. I was just feeling myself kind of like shut out a lot of the world, “I think, and I think the last couple of years for me was about, you know, there's a lot of things that I think I got used to saying no to, like invites from friends and like maybe a weekend trip or like a birthday party or something. I think I just got used to, you know, if I have a week at home, I don't want to go somewhere else for three days. I just want to stay home, you know. And I think when I got to Italy and was kind of out in this quiet place, I felt like, okay, if I'm going to spend all this time out here and I'm going to keep saying no to everything, I'm just going to like shut myself off from the world. And while parts of that sound appealing, I also like, I love people and I love like being in the world, you know, so it was kind of, I think for me, like there's been both the thing of like learning to set boundaries and stuff is a large part of that has also been learning when not to set boundaries and when to open up. Being intentional with the things that you don't do and being intentional with the things that you do do. So, you know, as a message in the album sleeve, where I said like thanks to all the people who helped me know when to say no and when to say yes. I think both of those have like greatly enriched my life.” - Harry about feeling isolated during his last tour and opening himself up to the world again on Q

Ben McCollum: "I think some coaches, they come in here and they (say), 'Ah, it's unacceptable.' And it is. We need to play hard. We need to play better than that. But you don't sit here and say, 'I'm embarrassed.' Because I'm not. I'm not embarrassed. They kicked our butt for us. I'm not embarrassed. It's a part of the process... We've got to keep fighting. We've got to keep competing. I'm not going to sit here and hang my head and pout. That's not what I do. I just fight harder, and we're going to fight harder."
