I had some downtime after work today, so I added preliminary support for loading Sega CD games from disk without dumping on SuperStation. It works very well! I’ll try Sega Saturn when I get a chance.

Yes. I recently "resurrected" my cat PS1 game and even ported it on PC too. I want to do a lot more work on it soon and make some real levels/places for it. Here it is running in 60 FPS natively on PC, but still being a PS1 game at heart... :D

Albert Odyssey: Legend of Eldean is a 1996 Saturn RPG from Sun Corporation. Though released on the 32-bit Sega Saturn, it is visually reminiscent of other classic top-down 16-bit SNES RPGs. The extra graphical horsepower is used to make things just a bit crisper, clearer and more vibrant than its predecessors.

"The #SEGA Saturn cant do transparencies" Yes it can! Kinda! Saturn has 2 chips - VDP1 (sprites, polygons) and VDP2 (backgrounds, transparencies). Devs had to use VDP2 in clever ways for that effect. Thats why some games use both mesh and transparencies at the same time!

You can run OpenCode inside an Upstash Box. Close your laptop, go for a walk — it keeps running. Right now it needs some custom setup. We’d love to collaborate and make it seamless. dax James Long Great work/demo by Yusuf

Doing some testing of SS1 reading PS1 data directly from a disk without dumping the data first. It’s much better than I expected. That being said, copying games to the SD or SSD is still the optimal strategy for performance. It’s a one-time process and better for random access.

A feature we didn't design for, but I really like: - Paste random code fragments from the web/chatgpt - Tell the agent "make it work" It should be able to figure out the environment, dependencies, and additional code it needs to run!

When you look at games on the PC Engine and Neo Geo—arguably the most powerful 8-bit and 16-bit consoles—it can honestly feel overwhelming. Fatal Fury Special was ported to the PC Engine CD, and at that level, it’s fair to call it an almost perfect conversion. The Super Famicom version suffered from hardware limitations and was handled by Takara, a different company, so the results weren’t particularly impressive. In contrast, the PC Engine CD version of Fatal Fury Special was developed directly by SNK as a test case for CD-based game production before the release of the Neo Geo CD, which explains its exceptionally high level of quality.

Wiseguy has created a tool to make PC ports of N64 games without full decompilations, which means we should see many more PC ports. The first of these is Zelda Majora's Mask and uses Darío RT64 renderer for widescreen and high framerate support and plays beautifully

I had no idea! Liquid nitrogen is added to bottled water before it's capped so that it expands as it evaporates, pressurizing the bottle. Bottled water needs to be stackable for shipping and storage without much additional packaging, and the pressure makes the bottles stronger.

Support for audio is making progress in It emulates the ALPC & RPC ports for native audio to work. It needs a bit of cleanup and optimization though, but it's still a good chunk of progress. (sound on for some nostalgia 😬)

Was asked to make it video-ready, so added more detail and some redesigns for Ravenfield. Had to can the baked lighting but some postprocessing seems to do the ticket to make it look less bland.

Unity is bringing dedicated Engine support to Netflix Games, making it easier for developers to build and deliver games across Netflix's multi-platform ecosystem on mobile and TV. Dedicated support includes optimizations for Netflix Games's cloud gaming offering, helping studios build once and ship across platforms while giving members a faster path from browse to play.

A few days ago marked the 35th anniversary of the PC Engine Duo. It combined the PC Engine and CD-ROM² into a single console, offering incredible performance compared to its competitors at the time, the Mega Drive and Super Famicom. The PC Engine was released overseas under the name TurboGrafx-16, but perhaps because the system wasn’t fully prepared for the overseas market, far fewer games were released compared to Japan, which was a shame. As a CD-based console, it delivered things that simply weren’t possible with cartridges at the time—spectacular opening sequences, impressive graphics, and incredible CD-quality music and sound. It truly felt like something from another world back then, and even today, it still looks and sounds amazing.

Added Puddles to my shader pack for the next release. Couldn't resist adding LTCGI support to it as well for some sweet reflections. This has been a lot of fun, can't wait for peeps to get their hands on it #vrchat #unity3d #VFX
