AEMO has developed an animation to answer this important question, “what will keep the lights on in the future?” As coal power stations retire, renewables, connected with transmission, supported by storage & gas, is the lowest-cost way to supply electricity to consumers.

@CISOZ has developed a factual explainer about why the plan can't actually be relied upon. Because the model assumes perfect foresight of the weather and requires just-in-time delivery of gigawatts of gas capacity to keep the lights on.

Gas Gas Gas Gas and more Gas. Renewables ensure gas forever.

Or if you want a near real-time simulation of what the mostly renewable future grid will look like, see my weekly simulation.

what a joke.

A royal commission is need into all aspects of Australia’s energy’s need. Facts not propaganda. Ask for proof of all costs and timelines related to all energy sources. Australia first, not political agendas. Show some backbone and demand a royal commission.

Patronising much?

This is embarrassing

Have you had a look at the feedback to your draft 2024 ISP? A lot of people think your plan is pretty light on regarding how to cover prolonged still and cloudy conditions. Why mislead people that it's this simple?

Meanwhile China and India grow rich and strong with massive increases in cheap, reliable coal fired power generation.

Sounds like a house of cards to me
