UPDATE- FIRE CONTAINED Early this morning, shortly after 3:00 AM, San Francisco firefighters responded to a fire at 50 Golden Gate, a six-story multi-residential complex located in the Tenderloin District. The firefighters executed an impressive and aggressive attack on the fire, which originated on the sixth floor, successfully preventing it from spreading to the lower floors and nearby buildings. The fire quickly escalated to a three-alarm incident, affecting the sixth floor, attic, and roof of the building. During the initial response, multiple occupants were rescued, and notably, two cats were saved during the second alarm phase. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Over 100 firefighters, more than 50 fire apparatus, police officers, and additional city services responded to the scene. Firefighters faced challenges due to the building's old construction, which included multiple light wells, lath and plaster construction, and heavy fire conditions on the upper floors. UPDATE- FIRE CONTAINED Early this morning, shortly after 3:00 AM, San Francisco firefighters responded to a fire at 50 Golden Gate, a six-story multi-residential complex located in the Tenderloin District. The firefighters executed an impressive and aggressive attack on the fire, which originated on the sixth floor, successfully preventing it from spreading to the lower floors and nearby buildings. The fire quickly escalated to a three-alarm incident, affecting the sixth floor, attic, and roof of the building. During the initial response, multiple occupants were rescued, and notably, two cats were saved during the second alarm phase. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Over 100 firefighters, more than 50 fire apparatus, police officers, and additional city services responded to the scene. Firefighters faced challenges due to the building's old construction, which included multiple light wells, lath and plaster construction, and heavy fire conditions on the upper floors. This incident exemplified traditional, aggressive firefighting tactics, which ultimately contained the fire within the structure. Currently, 45 residents have been temporarily displaced and are being accommodated on-site in an SFMTA bus. This number is subject to change. The fire was contained by 5:30 AM, and the American Red Cross has been called in to assist.
