David Eubank, a former US Army Special Forces soldier and founder of the Free Burma Rangers, identified a young girl alive among approximately 50 bodies in an ISIS-controlled area. Sniper fire was active, targeting any movement in the street. The girl had survived for several days by hiding under her deceased mother's clothing. After praying, Eubank coordinated with Iraqi forces and requested U.S. air support to deploy smoke canisters for visual cover. Under the protection of the smoke and suppressive fire from his team, Eubank ran into the kill zone, retrieved the girl, and returned to safety. The rescue took twelve seconds. The girl survived.
