The second anniversary of Putin’s illegal invasion of Ukraine reminds us of the strength, resilience, and courage of the Ukrainian people. Our thoughts today are with those who have lost their lives, their homes and their loved ones. Labour will always stand with Ukraine.

Beautiful paddle out this morning. Our hearts go out to everyone affected by the fires in Maui, all the people who lost loved ones, and the families who have been displaced. Stay strong, Lahaina, and know that you are not alone over the months and years to come. All of Hawai’i stands with you. 💙 (Credit: IG jesseyonover)

UPDATE: 7.4 magnitude earthquake struck western Colombia early this morning. 🇨🇴 At least two people have been confirmed killed, in the city of Manizales. In Cali, officials say at least twenty buildings have collapsed, with people still trapped inside. 😔 Earthquake hit at 7:34 in the morning local time, centered near the town of San José del Palmar in Chocó. Authorities have said there is no tsunami threat from this quake. This also comes just two months after Venezuela was hit by a devastating pair of earthquakes that killed more than six thousand people, a grim reminder of how active, and how dangerous, this region has been lately.

Myanmar earthquake's scared reality The pains, suffering and agony of the affected families are immense, beyond what words can express. In their time of grief and profound sadness, the survivors find support from the monks in Myanmar, who offer blessings and encouragement as the survivors sit and kneel down before the bodies of their loved ones on the street. These families have faced a double tragedy: they lost their loved ones in a severe natural disaster and have also lost their homes for which the bodies of their loved ones lay on the street before proper burial service. Today, I visited flood stricken areas in the Mpumalanga. Over 1500 households are recorded as affected by the disaster. Schools in the affected areas of Nkomazi and Bushbuckridge have been suspended. The government will be focusing on the repair and rehabilitation of damaged houses and infrastructure as well as assisting families and households affected by the disaster. Our thoughts and prayers go to all the families who have lost their loved ones.
