After Diddy Kong Racing, we started creating a new adventure game featuring TIMBER the TIGER! It was going to be an epic adventure where Timber explored the galaxy and landed on DINOSAUR PLANET. Along the way, he would encounter a small dinosaur called TRICKY who would eventually become his... trusty sidekick. Anyway - that all changed. Not long after we'd been working on the project we decided (well - I didn't) to change TIMBER into SABRE - a nod to the old 'Ultimate Play the Game' 'SabreWulf' character (Which I'd also borrowed the name of for Killer Instinct's Werewolf!) But then, things changed again and to cut a long story short, the game became STARFOX ADVENTURES featuring FOX McCloud! Why couldn't Timber get his own game? People like to talk about pixel art sometimes looking better on CRTs (ignoring the gorgeous handhelds), SFA is that for me. I still remember my bday getting it and loving the graphics. Fur especially stood out for years after, never looked as good on flat panels or in emulation.

I haven't followed it to a T so it's possible. I just remember that the build that leaked would cause crashes and a lot of the areas weren't accessible by normal means so I wasn't even aware if it was playable from start to finish. I'd have to take a look around.

I actually didn't know that it was supposed to be Timber initially. I think I would have preferred that in the end. I loved Starfox Adventures though, even though it commits one of the cardinal sins of game design :P

StarFox Adventures was the first game I bought for my Gamecube after getting the system for Christmas 2002 and the thing that stood out immediately for me was how fluid it animated and felt to play, much more than any other 60fps game I had played prior to it.

I think we realised it would have made the game and content a lot bigger. We talked about having him in different games at different times ‘TTT’ Time Tracelling Timber’ but never really did that - than along came Sabre, then Fox McCloud! And Timber was ‘pushed away’ once more 😢🤣

So - after playing the game on my twitch channel for two consecutive years, I finally manage to beat Wizpig (myself) at this incredible game that we all worked so hard to produce back in the 90's at Rare Ltd. A lot of late nights, in a hot, sweaty barn during a heatwave. But totally worth it. We were a new team and this was our first N64 project together so exploring it's 'Nintendo Power' was very exciting. It was also a brand new adventure for us all, as it was the first time we had moved on from 2D to 3D (Actual 3D - not pre-rendered) games on this fantastic console, during what can only be described as a golden era in video gaming. So proud to have been a part of it all back then! Diddy was probably my least favourite creation until we were asked to put him into Diddy Kong Racing and replace Timber as the original protagonist. I didn't really want to do it, but when we put the logo on that title page together with the sequence and other characters I'd created, it all fell into place. 🥹 This is honestly staggering: I uploaded the source code for the text adventure game, Zork, and asked Gemini 1.5 to play it with me. The model walked me through the game play -- but also made changes and modifications based on the questions I asked. When I asked to suddenly transform into a grue, Gemini 1.5 integrated that change into a couple of turns; but then redirected me back to the primary gameplay path. When I wanted to learn more about a topic in a book I found, it spent a short while telling me about ancient runes. This means that every time I play, the adventure will be different. Game design is never going to be the same.

Years ago I had a good friend who was a gaming YouTuber. He made it big and got 500k subs. I told him it would be better to not associate with me or have me on his streams anymore, since it was the middle of peak woke and I had a pretty gnarly podcast at the time. One distinct memory I have from playing games in the 80s was that every once in a while I would stumble across a game that looked epic but I had exactly zero clue what to do. Wizball was such a game. Looked and sounded pretty cool, but... "where to go, what to do, and what's the goal here?" - something along those lines went through my mind at the time. I stuck with it an eventually (much later) figured it out. Do you remember a game that you played but didn't really know what the goal was or how to get there?

Fred Warner was asked why he started watching the 49ers - Seahawks playoff game in a suite before making his way down to the sideline in the second quarter: “The reason why I was in the box in the first place is because the training staff said 'to give you the best chance to have a good training session going into tomorrow to ultimately have a chance at playing in the game next Sunday if we win, you need to be in the box because if you’re on your feet the whole game your ankle is gonna swell up'. We were right there in the corner of the end zone where Rashid Shaheed returned the kickoff for the touchdown and the game was not going our way early on. They’re playing to their crowd — the momentum of the crowd and I’m sitting next to Patrick Willis and I said 'We just gotta settle in. We gotta play the game. Don’t let them play to the momentum. Let’s actually make them play the game', and Patrick said 'They need to hear that from you'. And I was like 'Done deal'. So I asked for a security guard to get me down there and I just tried to rally the guys and ultimately of course it wasn’t enough to get us over the hump. It just wasn’t our day.”

SOULQUEST IS FINALLY OUT ON STEAM! It's real, after almost 7 years, the days of doubting if the game will see the day of light are over. Thank you so much to all my Kickstarter backers and the people who supported this game for so long. It's definitely not a perfect game, but I tried my best to make a kickass combat for a 2D game, which I would love to have played in 2019 when I started this project. Hope that SoulQuest may take that place for you as well. See you all in Cetonia!⚔️

In "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider" (2001), Angelina Jolie was initially reluctant to wear the famous shorts Lara Croft wears in the game. She eventually agreed to do it since she knew it would make the fans of the character happy & although the outfit was uncomfortable, it helped her connect with the character. Angelina Jolie talking about it: "We knew we had to have the shorts at one point, which was very, very difficult. And it was big discussions to the last minute about me….I think it was the first thing I said to Simon, probably. Was that I would do the movie, but would not get in the shorts. It did take a while, and then we thought, for the people that know her, you have to get in the shorts. It was very, very uncomfortable. You feel like her." IF Pokémon LegendsZA is set in the future…do we really think it’s going to be about AZ in anyway? Like his story was decently tied up at the end of X & Y. I guess we could learn more about his backstory somehow, but that means he wouldn’t really be a main character in Z-A. Maybe we begin a new adventure with him and his floette that takes us deeper in the lore of the ultimate weapon, or the Great War, but IDK. Add that gamefreak like to tell new stories and do new things with each game… …make me think we MIGHT get ZA without AZ (as the main focus of the plot)which is ironic given the clear connections between their names😂.
