AGENTIC AI COULD INCREASE ENTERPRISE SOFTWARE DEMAND 100x Jensen Huang says enterprise software has always been “limited by butts in seats”. Not anymore. “It’s about to get 100x more agents banging on those tools.” The time to be bullish software is here in my option. I am ready for... show more

Jensen Huang says we’ve passed the point of no return. “Software is not just a tool. Now software uses tools.” For the first time, intelligence is generated in real time as tokens. Now that it’s profitable, the only option is to scale. “We just have to make more of it.”

Jensen talked about this at GTC Taipei: "A lot of people said ‘You know Jensen, AI is coming therefore all of the software companies are going out of business.’ It is exactly the opposite because there are so many agents. The world is longer limited by the number of people and those agents will use more [software] tools than ever before. This is actually an incredible time to be a software company.”

Jensen Huang just said this is the greatest era in history to build software. AI agents will not kill software. They will do the exact opposite: create a massive new wave of software demand. at NVIDIA GTC Taipei 2026 "Click and type. We now replace that with explaining to the AI what we want, our intent, and the AI generates the code or uses tools to produce the necessary output. This is how computers are going to work in the future. This is Agentic AI. For two years, we've been building toward this, and now it has arrived. One of the big breakthroughs, of course, is tool use. A lot of people have said, “Jensen, AI is coming. Agentic AI is coming. Therefore, all the software companies are going to go out of business.” This is exactly the opposite. Because there are going to be so many agents, the world is no longer limited by the number of people. Therefore, those agents are going to use more tools than ever. This is actually an incredible time to be a software company. But the software has to be presented to the agent in a way that the agent can use it. This is a big breakthrough. And in fact, what we have done, as you know, what Nvidia’s treasure..." ---- From 'NVIDIA' YT channel (link in comment)

Benedict Evans says AI means more software, not less: "There's going to be a bunch of stuff you could do with software that you just couldn't do before at all. And so there will be more competition." "If you think about the enterprise software fleet today, you've got three buckets... big iron horizontal systems, so SAP and Workday and your CRM... vertical software... and then in the middle, this fuzzy improvised space of Excel and email and the shared file system." "Now you add ChatGPT to that. Do you do that in an LLM? Is there an LLM tool that means you can do that in Salesforce where you couldn't do it before, or you can do it in your vertical app that you couldn't do before?" "All of which is a long way of saying, what does this do to software? And it must be more software. Way more software." Benedict Evans with Erik Torenberg

Jensen Huang says computing is no longer pre-recorded or pre-compiled. Traditional software like Excel ran the same for everyone now AI adapts to each user and moment. Every sound, pixel, and output is generated in real time based on context. This requires massively more compute, as software now thinks before it responds. It marks a fundamental shift: software isn’t static—it’s alive and reactive.

Anish Acharya: We're going to see a "YouTube moment for software": "If you think about YouTube 20 years ago—we had lots of video and lots of television, and it was high production quality, and it wasn't clear that we needed more and 20 years later, YouTube's a $550 billion enterprise that would be one of the biggest companies in the world if it was independent." "I think the same thing is going to happen for software. People want to make software, and for the first time they can—and they can distribute it and they can consume it." "Sometimes it's going to be important software. Sometimes it's going to be totally trivial. It's going to be software for a bachelor party weekend, software for a joke, software for a prompt. We have this sort of seriousness about software that we had about video and television 20 years ago." "Now it's like—I just took a video on my phone. It's going to be like—I just made an app on my phone. Same energy." Anish Acharya on BILLIONS with Guillaume Moubeche

“AI is changing the value prop of software.” We spoke with Metronome CEO Scott Woody about why AI requires a new business model. “In the cloud era…the value of the software scales as your org scales.” “In AI, the software is now doing work on your behalf…so the core value of the software is not who in my org has access to the data, it's what can this software do for me? When the value shifts from access to output, the business model has to follow.

#WATCH | Mumbai, Maharashtra: On the Jevons paradox and software demand expansion, Neelkanth Mishra, Executive Director Designate of the World Bank, says, “…If you think about what the major cost of a software firm is, it is people. So, if the writing of software is getting automated, those firms will be the first to make adjustments. But on the whole, it seems that the Jevons paradox—which dictates that as the cost of writing software falls, the amount of software written goes up—is actually playing out. If an XYZ company, which is a product company, was spending, say, $100 million on writing software and can now do it for $70 million, they might need to lay off some people; that is their business priority. But if the amount of software written goes up three to four times, the number of software engineers in the ecosystem will not change… This panic and paranoia about massive job losses is something that I think is, at this stage, unfounded.”

Jensen Huang says the AI productivity story is already showing up in software output - and he thinks the "AI will reduce jobs" narrative is wrong. "In the first few months of 2026, it has nearly tripled." "30 million software developers, representing about $3 trillion worth of GDP, are now producing nearly three times as much output." "That $3 trillion worth of salary is now producing nearly $9 trillion worth of output." "This is the potential. This is the promise of AI." "People talk about AI reducing jobs. Complete nonsense. It's causing more software engineers to be hired." His logic is simple: If a software engineer can create 3x more output with AI, companies do not stop hiring engineers. They want more of them. The bottleneck moves from typing code to deciding what to build, orchestrating systems, and turning that output into products customers actually use.

Marc Andreessen: Software isn't precious anymore. In this new world, high quality software is infinitely available. "We've always lived in a world in which software is this precious thing that you have to think about very carefully." "It was really hard to generate good software, and there was only a small number of people who could do it." "Those days are just over." "If you need new software to do X, Y, or Z, you're just going to wave your hand and get it." "Things that used to be hard, or even seem like an insurmountable mountain to get through, all of a sudden, I think, become very easy." Marc Andreessen 🇺🇸 with Latent.Space

we officially solved software products for AI UGC we already systemized physical products months ago.. skincare, supplements, gadgets, you drop it in and the ad comes out looking perfect software was a different story so it took me a bit of time because the text on screen always came out as gibberish and the app in the video looked nothing like the actual app, so every software ad ended up looking like slop.. but that is no longer a problem, in the V4 system i built a framework specifically for software, this whole video now comes out of 1 prompt pause the video and look at the screen yourself, every single piece of text on the app is readable, which is traditionally extremely hard to do with AI UGC and the exact reason software and app people stayed out of it then watch when she swipes her hand to go to the next screen, the animation is 1:1 with how the app moves natively and you can tell there is no weird AI transition happening so now we have: > max realism > readable and accurate text on screen every time > a 1:1 representation of your actual app or software which means literally ANY product can be done with AI UGC now, ecom, software, apps, info products, all of it there has never been a better time to scale creatives.

CLAUDE CODE CREATOR: "BUILDING SOFTWARE IS GOING TO BE A SKILL LIKE KNOWING HOW TO SEND A TEXT MESSAGE." Boris Cherny, the creator of Claude Code, just made the most important prediction about software in years. His parallel: the printing press. Before the printing press, 10% of Europeans were literate. Their entire job was reading and writing for people who couldn't. In the 50 years after it was invented, more literature was published than in the thousand years before. Book costs dropped 100x. Literacy went from 10% to 70%. He believes the same thing is about to happen to software. Faster than 50 years. The best person to write accounting software isn't an engineer. It's a great accountant. Because knowing the domain is the hard part. Coding is just the tool. AI just made that tool available to everyone. Doctors will build medical software. Teachers will build education tools. Accountants will build accounting systems. Without a single engineer involved. We're not watching software get easier. We're watching it get democratized the way literacy did 600 years ago. Bookmark this post. The full interview is in the video below.

Software may be starting to show early signs of life but I still think the “hard” side of AI has the cleaner lane for 2026 and probably most of 2027. We're nowhere close to done with the physical AI buildout since compute demand is still ahead of supply, power is becoming the bottleneck and every layer of AI infrastructure still needs more capacity. I own some software names but I still see this as more of an oversold bounce than a true leadership rotation away from the companies building the AI infrastructure layer. Software probably becomes a cleaner leadership group once inference costs fall, enterprise AI budgets expand and AI features start flowing through margins but that still feels more like a 2027 story to me.

Ackman views $MSFT as having an "impossible to disrupt" position in enterprise software. The base Microsoft 365 package has 450M users at a very low cost per seat, roughly $200 per customer. It would be nearly impossible for an enterprise to replace these various components with 3P vendors, even at twice the price. Microsoft Copilot gives enterprise employees a secure way to access AI tools without putting the company at risk of extreme cloud computing bills or exposing proprietary data.

Today, Sierra is releasing Ghostwriter, our agent for building agents. With Ghostwriter, you can create an AI agent for your customer experience — one that can chat, pick up the phone, speak dozens of languages, take action on your systems of record, and be protected with industry-leading guardrails — simply by having a conversation. No clicking, no forms, no menus. Codex and Claude Code have transformed how we build software, making it possible for software engineers to orchestrate and review the work rather than doing all the work themselves. We think the same transformation will happen for all software. Rather than every enterprise app having a web app for humans and an API for automation, every software platform’s UI will be an agent that can do the work on your behalf. I recorded a demo of my building and optimizing an agent with Ghostwriter so you can see how powerful and easy it is to use. It’s completely changed the way our early adopters build agents, and it’s changed the way I think about the software industry. Let me know what you think, and, if you’re interested in trying it out at your business, please reach out directly.
