“AI can process information quickly, but it cannot replace human intelligence. And don’t ask it to do your homework for you.” — Pope Leo XIV

Pope Leo XIV gave that advice to thousands of young Catholics at the National Catholic Youth Conference last November. This week the New York Times reported that Anthropic spent months wining and dining theologians, hoping they would bless the idea that Claude has moral standing.

We’ve reached a point where church and state look far more responsible than the tech oligarchs trying to replace them.

The unintelligent claim that humans have no intelligence. I'm truly astonished that there are fools who reduce intelligence to nothing more than computation and memory.

@grok Where can I see the complete conference?

@plamen_neykov Like Carney, a real leader and voice of kindness, love and compassion in the world. Bravo Papa!!

These are such wise words for the times in which we are living. Perhaps there is a divine order in things. @AntigoneJournal @GeorgyKantor

I taught a chemistry lab at the U of A last year where students actually had to be prepared in advance and do hands on work in a 3 hour lab. Few were prepared and the attempts to recover from that by using AI did not go well for them. Those who were prepared did well.

Such wise and true words.

Triumph for Truth! Humanity is not discernible or reducible because our soul is not our invention while AI always will be!

I'm impressed with Pope's embrace of the Potemkin town-hall meeting.

Even the information it gives out is wrong. In many cases. Totally incorrect info. Even at a level of how much a certain subscription plan cost with such and such a company. Plain wrong.

Exactly. Speed is not wisdom: AI can spot patterns, but judgment includes context, responsibility and the cost of being wrong. The best use is to extend human reasoning, not outsource it. Where should schools draw the line?

A Jedi may use droids, but the droid isn’t the Jedi. 🤖⚔️ AI can process information; the human mind can understand, imagine, discern, choose, and take responsibility. Technology can amplify the mind—but it doesn’t define it. #AI

@kenm77 ‼️

AI can be a good teacher if instead of asking it to DO your homework, as it to EXPLAIN your homework

Fair to speak your mind than to disagree and say death threats

Coincido 100% con el Papa León XIV

Amen, @Pontifex , amen!

I'll join whatever religion this guy is with

Caralho, esse papa é muito based!

How stupid is this ! This is really stupid !

@jakub_bilski It can replace Humanity, not only human intelligence

L’IA va detruire la vacuité des religions.

Programs can be anthropomorphized by humans. They are programmed by us. If their behaviour appears aberrant, we humans, who programmed them are at fault. We cannot free ourselves of that responsibility by claiming that programs/AI are 'alive' and have free will.
