🙏♥️🙏 Back in 1952, a baby was born at a hospital in New York. The room went dead silent. The infant was blue, limp, and silent. Panic began to settle over the medical staff, and for a terrifying moment, it looked like they might give up. Then, a steady, calm voice cut through the tension. «Let's score the baby,» the woman commanded. That woman was Dr. Virginia Apgar. That single, simple instruction changed the course of modern medicine forever. Virginia Apgar's path wasn't easy. She originally wanted to be a surgeon, but in the 1940s, the doors to operating rooms were firmly shut against women. She was told plainly that no hospital would hire a woman as a surgeon. Many people would have quit right there, but Apgar simply shifted her focus. She moved into the field of anesthesiology. It was a career pivot that would eventually save millions of lives. While working in the maternity ward at Columbia-Presbyterian, Apgar watched something that broke her heart. She saw newborn babies dying within minutes of birth because doctors didn't have a standardized way to check if they were healthy or in distress. It was all guesswork. There was no system, no set of rules, and no shared language among the staff. One morning in 1952, Apgar decided to solve the problem herself. She sat down with a piece of paper and a pen. She developed a simple, five-point test to evaluate a newborn's health based on heart rate, respiration, muscle tone, reflexes, and skin color. She called it the "Apgar Score." The medical community didn't just accept it; they embraced it. Within a decade, nearly every hospital in the United States had adopted her method. Because doctors finally had a universal language to assess a newborn's health, they knew exactly when to intervene. The infant mortality rate plummeted. Infants who might have been left for dead in the past were suddenly being resuscitated and kept alive. Virginia Apgar didn't stop with that one test. She went on to get a degree in Public Health and worked tirelessly with the March of Dimes, becoming a global advocate for mothers and their children. She spent her life breaking barriers, not by shouting, but by being the most capable person in the room. Because doctors finally had a universal language to assess a newborn's health, they knew exactly when to intervene. The infant mortality rate plummeted—studies have estimated that the implementation of standardized neonatal assessments contributed to a significant decline in neonatal deaths, with some regions seeing mortality rates for high-risk infants drop by as much as 40 to 50 percent in the years following its adoption. Infants who might have been left for dead in the past were suddenly being resuscitated and kept alive. When people asked her how she managed to thrive in a world that didn't want her there, she would offer a small, knowing smile. She once explained her resilience by saying: «Women are like tea bags—you never know how strong they are until they're in hot water.» Dr. Virginia Apgar passed away in 1974, but her work remains invisible yet essential. Every two seconds, somewhere on this planet, a baby takes its first breath. In that moment, a doctor or a nurse silently calculates a score. That number is a tribute to a woman who refused to give up—not on the babies, and certainly not on herself. vision, and a refusal to back down can rewrite the future. She taught us that your circumstances don't define your impact; your actions do. Most people will never know the name of the woman behind the score they receive at birth. But every life she helped save is living proof that you don't need fame to be a hero—you just need to leave the world better than you found it 🙏♥️🙏

Last Moments of Saalumarada Thimmakka India Loses Its Beloved Mother of Trees Renowned environmentalist and Padma Shri awardee Saalumarada Thimmakka passed away at the age of 114 on Friday at a private hospital in Bengaluru. She had been unwell for some time and was undergoing treatment, according to family sources. Born on June 30, 1911, in Karnataka, Thimmakka became an icon of grassroots environmental activism despite having no formal education. She gained national and international recognition for planting 385 banyan trees along a 4.5-km stretch between Hulikal and Kudur in the Ramanagara district. Her deep bond with nature stemmed from personal grief-being childless, she began nurturing trees as her own children.Affectionately called Saalumarada, meaning "row of trees" in Kannada, Thimmakka's life work inspired generations and contributed significantly to India's environmental movement. Over her lifetime, she received numerous honours, including the Padma Shri in 2019, the Indira Priyadarshini Vrikshamitra Award (1997), the National Citizen Award (1995), and the Nadoja Award by Hampi University in 2010. Political leaders, environmentalists, and public figures across the country have expressed deep condolences over her demise. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah condoled the death and stated, "I am saddened to hear the news of the passing of 'Vrikshamate' Saalumarada Thimmakka. Having planted thousands of trees and nurtured them like her own children, Thimmakka dedicated most of her life to environmental conservation." "Though she has left us today, her love for nature has made her immortal. My respects to the great soul who has departed," he stated. "With the demise of Saalumarada Thimmakka, the nation has become poorer. I pray that her soul attains eternal peace. My condolences to her family," he stated. The Leader of Opposition in the Assembly, R Ashoka, stated, "I am saddened to hear the news of the passing of Vrkshamate Dr. Salumara Thimmakka, our proud Padma Shri awardee, who planted banyan saplings along the roadside and proclaimed, "Trees are my children." "May Thimmakka's soul rest in eternal peace. Let us pay tribute to her by following her example of environmental service-protecting and nurturing the environment around us," he stated. Her passing marks the end of a remarkable journey, but her legacy will live on through the green canopy she created and the inspiration she gave to millions. #bangalore #bengaluru #saalumaradathimmakka Narendra Modi PMO India President of India Ram Nath Kovind Karnataka State Police S. Have received another chilling video. A Kashmiri shawl seller Jehangir Ahmad was mercilessly thrashed by fringe elements in Dehra, Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh in yet another shocking incident of harassment. He has sustained fractures and multiple injuries and is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Himachal Pradesh. This is the 16th case this year in HP involving the targeting of Kashmiri shawl sellers. The victim was threatened and told to leave the state, not allowed to sell his shawls, his belongings were vandalised, and his mobile phone was smashed when he tried to record the incident. He has been selling shawls in the area for the past 15 years and is not a newcomer. He has lived peacefully within the local community and earned his livelihood with dignity. Despite this, he was abused, threatened with death, and asked to vacate the area immediately. He was also warned that Kashmiris would not be allowed to work there. We urge the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu Ji, to take immediate and decisive action by directing the authorities to register a case against the fringe and right-wing elements involved under the relevant provisions of law. Such behaviour must not go unchecked. Strict action will send a strong message that communal bigotry has no place in a progressive and inclusive society. We urged CM to put an end to this growing reign of terror against Kashmiri traders and ensure the prompt identification and arrest of those responsible, so that a clear deterrent is set. Kashmiris are not outsiders in India. We are equal citizens and an integral part of this country, entitled to the same rights, freedoms, and protections as any other Indian under the Constitution. Targeting innocent Kashmiri traders and forcing them out of cities only deepens alienation and mistrust, and damages the very idea of India. Communal hatred must not be allowed to grow unchecked. Strict and exemplary action is essential to uphold the rule of law and to reaffirm that such acts of intimidation, violence, and discrimination have no place in a progressive, inclusive, and democratic society. Today - 43% of Australians, about 9 million people, have less than $1000 in the bank. That is about 9.2 million people. Also today, Jim Chalmers was running victory laps at the National Press Club. He told us they’re doing a great job managing the economy and have big plans for our nation - as he bounced from slogan to slogan. At some point Labor must stop campaigning and start answering for the mess we are in. A mess the political class have made. The establishment in Australia are so poll driven, so focused on the next sound bite they don’t seem to understand that their plans are not working. Too many Australians are worse off today than they were a decade ago. Housing, groceries and the everyday basics slipping further and further out of reach. Crime increasing as the situation worsens… and yet, the National Press Club in their pant suits fawn over every word that falls from Chalmers. He tells us the Labor government is modernising our electricity grid. As electricity becomes unstable and expensive. How very modern. He suggests they are “seizing the opportunities from Net Zero with a future made in Australia”, as long-standing businesses that used to make things here – close down for good. It sounds to me like he should instead have a PhD in spin. Not that the Australian media has much interest in questioning him. They don’t call out the obvious sloganeering and the absolute dishonesty – the whitewashing of the real situation of the Australian not privileged enough to sit in the club. Worse still, our economic situation is corroding, and it is the government that pours on the acid. Instead of talking about real problems and real solutions, Jim delighted the establishment crowd juggling balls of distraction drenched in sophistry. IT would seem that the big end of town doesn’t really care about Australia; they have the money and mobility to go anywhere – they’re global citizens. Their companies can make things anywhere. The media just want access, so they only ever go so far with their critique. The big banks are too big to fail. They don’t mind the digital cage closing on the rest of us… after all they have the keys. Oh… by the way, Chalmers will help our economy to digitise with a digital ID. That ought to fix it for those who are struggling. I think the government is out of its depth. The economy is getting much worse for real Australians - quickly. The establishment is immune, and the bubble is thick. We don’t really need the newspapers to tell us that it is getting tougher, or that Chalmers is more focused on his slogans than practical solutions. We can see that for ourselves. However, we do need significant cuts to immigration, cheap reliable electricity and a lot less regulation across the board. We need to transition back to an industrial economy. If we don’t, we will not recover – no matter what Dr. Jim says. I just want Australia back.

#امپورٹڈ_حکومت_نامنظور PTI ladies – leading from the front ~ Dedicated to the mothers, daughters and sisters of my nation 🇵🇰 “The world needs strong women. Women who will lift and build others, who will love and be loved, women who live bravely, both tender and fierce, women of indomitable will.” – Amy Tenney And indeed, it is the strong women of Pakistan who are defining the critical phase in the nation’s history. I applaud the womenfolk from different segments of our society who are standing firm to resist fascism. Their sacrifices and efforts will always be remembered. 14th of March marked a day of resistance against fascism which is the hallmark of the current regime. Police and Rangers were deployed in huge numbers around Chairman Imran Khan’s residence to unlawfully arrest the former Prime Minister, where thousands of his supporters had gathered to deny the regime from executing the illegitimate action. We resisted tooth and nail against relentless shelling and baton charge denying the arrest of our Chairman. For hours on end, I suffered a barrage of shelling but stayed steadfast to lead the unarmed protestors. Moreover, the day of 25th of May last year will go down in Pakistan’s history as a day that, amongst other features, signified the rise of Pakistani women to stand up for their rights in the face of extreme state barbarism. Countless ladies from all walks of life showed their will and resilience that day as they came to the streets in protest against the imported Government, braving teargas shells and police baton charge. Amongst the political leadership, most remarkable of all was the sheer strength of character and courage shown by Dr. Yasmin Rashid, a 71-year-old cancer survivor who was harassed by the police initially the night before the march and then on the roads, as police goons damaged her car, smashing the windscreen and pulled her off the vehicle. The remarkably resilient lady, however, was not intimidated and continued her journey to Islamabad. I myself braved through some of the most gruesome behaviour of police as innocent protestors in my convoy from Southern Punjab were continually subjected to the worst form of shelling by the police. Multiple vehicles were smashed up by thugs in bandannas facilitating the police, as it was clear the Government was hellbent on trampling over the right of peaceful protest we as the citizens of Pakistan are supposed to have. My convoy, regardless, moved on with intent, removing obstacles and making way for the other marchers as we were amongst the first ones to reach D-Chowk. I also continually updated the progress of the march from my social media accounts. Additionally, the bravery shown by Shireen Mazari – the way she has risen to challenge and has exposed sheer hypocrisy and double standards is also commendable. She has most effectively taken up the burning issue of the diplomatic cipher at the heart of the regime change episode, and called out different parties to clarify their positions regarding how they are fulfilling their duties to the country. Amongst countless womenfolk in PTI, some notable leaders to specifically mention here include Barrister Maleeka Bokhari who stood firm and continued to move on despite the heavy shelling, and has also wonderfully been working on the cases for the restoration of the rights of protestors. Others including Kanwal Shauzab Ex-MNA, Aliya Hamza Malik and Musarrat Cheema are role models for women across the country in this struggle for freedom. This struggle for defying the imposed imported Government and for genuine freedom of Pakistan is a national movement rather than a political one. And the nation’s females are an integral part of the resistance. The nation won’t be cowed down by state brutalities as we know the power of truth trumps everything. When a nation is blessed with responsible and courageous females, it cannot be denied its true freedom for long. #WomenEmpowerment #9thAprilBlackDay

"From Mayo Hospital to the Circus of Power: The Arrogance of Maryam Nawaz" "I can even get you arrested. This "guy" needs to be fired" And moments later, he is fired. No show cause. No notice. No hospital meeting, and he is fired. This happens when someone gets a position not through the people's mandate but due to the mere finger of a dictator. Then that person begins to act like a dictator themselves. And if that person could not become a doctor after entering the same college in the past, naturally, she becomes insecure and takes out her frustration on the doctors in the corridors of the same hospital, who are far more capable and civilized than her. This is the real story behind the clip filled with Maryam Nawaz's arrogance and bad manners witnessed today in Mayo Hospital. I have spent five years in the corridors of Mayo Hospital, and because of that, I have a special attachment to this hospital. Today, when I witnessed the humiliation of such senior doctors, my heart bled. This single clip is enough to confirm the statistics that show more than 1.6 million Pakistanis have left the country in the past two years—16 times more than in the last 50 years—among whom the majority are doctors and engineers. Even now, 75 % doctors are planning to leave the country. In any other country, a "show-cause notice" would first be issued, clarification would be asked, a committee meeting would be held, and only after receiving the response would a person be dismissed. But this happens in civilized societies where there is democracy and professionalism. In this country, it is possible that someone like the Chief Operating Officer of the largest hospital in the province can be humiliated and removed from their position just because of a finger-pointing decision. And they are publicly threatened with arrest. When people with a TikTok mentality, obsessed with gaining views, are made chief ministers, you won’t get funds for hospitals, but you will get plenty of clips and camera gimmicks. Right now, Mayo Hospital's fund is short by 3.5 billion rupees—how will pharmaceutical companies provide medicines in such a situation? How can the MS (Medical Superintendent) make up for this shortage? MS Dr. Masood had submitted his resignation to the Health Secretary a month ago, but he was requested to continue for some time. Today, he was not only publicly humiliated but also threatened with arrest. It is now clear how arrests are being made in this country in recent years. What is the criterion for arrest in this country? If someone writes a lot, "charge them with electricity theft"; if someone is disliked by Maryam Nawaz, "pick them up." A woman who can publicly threaten an MS doctor with arrest in front of cameras—what would she be doing behind the scenes with her rivals and critics? This is the tragedy of this country, where the educated are ruled by the ignorant, and democracy is overshadowed by authoritarian rulers, for whom firing someone with just a finger-point is seen as "efficiency" and "wow." But what is even more disappointing is the silent attitude of the other doctors standing by, including Dr. Mahmood Ayaz, the Vice-Chancellor of King Edward University, who remained silent and watched this ill-mannered behavior. Maryam Nawaz's actions are not only against the protocol and procedures for dismissing someone but also reflect her authoritarian and arrogant personality. Just like when a joker is made a king, the entire kingdom becomes a circus, same way when a person with an inferiority complex and a TikTok mentality is made the chief minister, the whole province becomes a stage show, a studio where the dignity of people is routinely at risk just for the sake of flashy attention. This is pathetic. This is autocratic. This is bullshit. This is garbage. Remember the equation: Incompetence + Inferiority Complex + Authority = Tyranny It proves the saying: ""مرے وچ میں نہیں بولدی ؛ میرا یار بولدا " -------------------------------------------------------- Moeed Pirzada @drfaranahmad Ryan Grim Mir Mohammad Alikhan Hamid Mir حامد میر
