Air traffic controller "I MESSED UP" can be heard.. Air Canada jet crashed into an emergency vehicle on a LaGuardia Airport runway, killing the pilot and co-pilot. Insane audio and video visual.

Even if ATC clears you, checking for incoming aircraft was part of the airfield driver's training.
He told the truck to stop, I don’t think it’s fair hanging that on him, he’s gotta a tough job and sounded professional through out

Is it true he was the only one working at the time and had to stay hour after incident before he could be relieved? So terrible.

The controller was handling both aircraft and ground vehicles (common in tower positions), and the frantic audio has led to speculation about overwork, understaffing, or fatigue - especially late at night (~11:40 p.m.) during a busy period with rainy weather and a separate emergency (odor issue on a United flight prompting the fire truck response). There are mentions in X posts and forums (e.g., one user claiming the controller was "on his own for an hour after the accident" handling post-incident traffic like getting planes to gates) and speculation that staffing was short due to broader issues (like ongoing government shutdown effects or general ATC shortages). Some commenters tie it to understaffing, with one saying "that's what happens when ATC is understaffed and overworked. The dude was doing 2 people's jobs."

The truck driver have ears and he can see too… you work at the airport.

I couldn't do his job because I would have yelled into the mic '' STOP YOU DICKHEAD!!!'' he repeated ''stop stop'' still so calm. But HOW can the fire truck driver NOT see a massive plane coming!!!

poor guy you can hear the genuine remorse in his voice the amount of lives he’s kept safe cannot be counted and all of us make mistakes at work - and it’s so unfortunate that he’s the sole person so many lives depend on when mistakes are made.

Why didn’t the truck stop?

My prayers are with that controller. Horrible situation. He shouldn't have been alone.

My dad wanted me to be an air traffic controller. I just can't imagine having a job where you have to be 100% alert every second of you job and if you're not people die.

He said he messed up . Because he probably forgot he cleared a plane to taxi on the runway. When he cleared a fire truck to cross 🥲🥲 sad day for the pilot family and the controller himself.

The truck driver was at fault he was supposed to take caution knowing that planes can't abruptly stop.

How terrifying i've flown into Laguardia a 100 times I always worry about the landing with all the buildings around, never worried about stuff being on the runway.

The fire truck didn't stop at all he drove through,I think there was multiple screwups
Serious question. When crossing the runway, wouldn’t a vehicle like the fire truck want to make sure to look both ways? Just like when you’re crossing an intersection on the roadways?

ATC messed up by approving truck one to proceed but still up to truck one to look both ways for incoming takeoff or landing aircraft.

Air traffic controllers have one of the hardest jobs. They have the highest suicide rate because how stressful the job is. I feel for the pilot, passengers and the traffic controller 🙏🏻

Yeah, he could be just a super responsible human being that feels responsible for every tragedy whether it was his fault of not. So those three words might not mean anything. In fact, an irresponsible person wouldn't have admit any failing.

That controller will have to live with his mistake the rest of his life.

Even if you were cleared to go, you’re meant to check but sides before driving at cross roads

The airport is still closed at 1PM. I drove on the LIE & the flashing signs indicate LGA is closed. It's been raining non stop since 11PM last night. Crazy.

Weird, all the recordings I’ve heard cut that part off 😲

One of the reason the gov shutdown is affecting the FAA happened with that DC situation now this

Was ATC telling the plane or fire truck to stop?

How long was this guy on the job? Was anyone fired recently due to some policy?

Did the Fire Truck not hear him? My husband is a firefighter and even without sirens blaring it’s hard to hear radio communication in the cab. My heart goes out to all in this accident.

Why didn’t the firefighters hear the stop? And driving in the rain with so many lights can be confusing to your eyes

parasitic drag second-hand smoke folks. up down top bottom strange charm. c-harm

JLR is a felon and career criminal

Who is the female voice that pops in & says “is the runway closed?”

Ground control, air space control systems are designed for use by multiple operators in ATC, seems forum clips he’s on his own doing both jobs due to apparent cuts.

That controller is in big trouble.

Talk about a PSYOP FALSE FLAG!!!!! if humans don’t have discernment skills by now then you’re fucking retarded and you’re useless and you don’t deserve to live on this earth
