Air traffic controllers aren’t getting paid. Federal employees aren’t getting paid. Practically the only people in our government who ARE getting paid are members of Congress. That's why I brought two bills to the Senate floor to stop paying Congress during shutdowns.

You must take it a step further; people in Congress have money, so losing their paycheck (and then being reimbursed retroactively) is not a punishment or motivation. FINE them for every day they keep the gov shut down.

I think we should charge each congressperson a fine for everyday they choose to not fund the government

Why TF would congress still get paid when they're the ones shutting it down? Americans are constantly abused by the squabbling power grabs of the two party system, which is really just a uniparty oligarchy banana republic.

Just reopen the government, please. Even without pay, most members of Congress are not exactly living paycheck to paycheck, as millions of federal workers might be. Let the Covid credits expire - Covid is over. Find the funds elsewhere. It's called leadership.

Kennedy’s net worth =$20M. This is called showboating, kids. He doesn’t need the check. Each side throwing red meat to their base— “It’s 100% their fault”. Both sides, negotiate in good faith and get a deal done.

I don't think most members of Congress will be sufficiently impacted by missing paychecks. They make too much money from side hustles while holding office. I'd suggest that all sitting members are automatically ineligible for reelection in the event of a shutdown. Let's end this once and for all. They want to hold office, they have to make deals.

The only concern I have is that most members of congress have enough money that this won't be be as painful for them as it is for the actual WORKERS in the federal government. The No Back Pay for congress should be the bill that is passed and enacted.
