Alamaya is blossoming into every inch the handsome bull. He recently returned to say ‘hello’ after a long safari away; he enjoys the best of both worlds, a human family to visit whenever he wants, & a protected natural environment to explore at leisure.

Alamay’s story is shocking. That he is doing so well is all due to Sheldrick Trust. I am assuming from his story that he cannot sire children due to the hyena’s attack and his massive injuries. Thank you for saving him.

Yes - sadly he won't be able to sire any offspring. Fortunately, this hasn't affected his ability to reintegrate into the wild & he has been fully accepted by the wild elephant community, living a full & complete wild life nonetheless.

Where's his tail?

Alamaya lost his tail & genitals in a predator attack when he was a lone, orphaned infant. We rescued him &, miraculously, he survived thanks to the care he received at our Nursery. Fortunately he has never let his lack of a fly swatter get in the way of living life & though he won't be able to sire any offspring, he has been fully accepted by the wild community & is able to live a full & complete wild life.
