A lot of beauty to Watts’ words claiming Jesus didn’t come to start a religion but to awaken individuals to divine consciousness. Yet Christ explicitly founded a visible Church (Matt 16:18–19) with sacramental authority and apostolic succession (John 20:21–23). Watts’ view presupposes a non-Christian, often pantheistic metaphysics incompatible with the Incarnation and the deposit of faith. Religion is a virtue, a dimension of justice, by which man renders back to God a portion of what has been given him. Its relationship. The reason modern man rejects it is because it is objective over subjective, particular rather than relativistic, and it makes demands of him.

Nonsense : “And I say also unto thee, that thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” Matthew 16-18

I have always believed in Jesus and have rejected originized regilion. I tell people all the time that I believe in Jesus, but I don't think of myself as a Christian. Now, I know I was right to reject what I was seeing in some church. I tell people that I found God from within, not in church.

I read three of his books before the Internet. Major paradigm shift for me and I will always be grateful for Alan Watts.

Amen. Religion and Spirituality are two very different contemplative insights into profound awareness. If you have the metaphysical insight to follow your transcendental wisdom then there is no church needed, for you are it.

Watts didn't know Jesus. He placed Him in a new-age wrapper to fit his own beliefs.

He didn’t come to establish a religion. He came to establish a kingdom, which he accomplished.

Jesus was an incarnated Pleiadian soul from Merope - Elder Sananda. He came here to teach Oneness. He didn’t die, he was taken on a craft.

Alan Watts is amazing. He said, "Are you following the religion of Jesus, or the religion about Jesus."

Jesus Christ is God in the flesh. He accepted worship, and rightly so. He lived a perfect, sinless life, died for our sins and rose from the dead. Alan Watts was a New Age drunkard and fornicator, full of hot air and vain words. I know whom I follow. The choice is easy.

@Jones242217 We were bought for a price, the purchase price of a marriage covenant, to become the bride of Christ (the church). This is why so many do not understand the teaching of the ‘harpazo’ and the parable of the 10 virgins.

Interesting take on Alan Watts' view of Jesus, Watts pushes mystical, direct divine awareness sans institutions—more Eastern/New Age fusion. This is complete heresy!

Jesus did have followers of His “way,” which implies a group of like minded people with the same aims. The word ‘religion’ just means a particular system of faith & worship. Religion has been corrupted by PEOPLE, & the reformation.

Being religious, and being spiritual, are not the same. Religions, are man made concepts that become institutionalized. Being spiritual, to me, is learning to hear His Voice & FLOW with the His Spirit as He leads us Its, ultimately, a closer Walk with the Son of God, J.C. The laying of hands, prayer, and baptism to transfer and manifest the Spirit of Christ Jesus, in new believers towards greater works.

Like everything else, ordinary humans love pyramids/hierarchy/control (both followers and leaders) Gnostics, eradicated early in the cycle, were right: - According to Gnostics, Jesus as a teacher and a spiritual guide - Gnostics were critical of the early Christian church and differed in what they thought made a true Christian. - The Gnostics denied the authority of bishops and priests and understood spiritual enlightenment to be obtainable on a personal basis without priests or bishops as intermediaries. - Gnostics thought salvation could be achieved through knowledge of oneself at the deepest level, hence the word Gnostic, which comes from the Greek word gnosis meaning “knowledge gained from insight.” - Gnostics believed that whoever received the Spirit was communicating with the Divine, a concept directly challenging to the authority of the church. So essentially they believed deeply in Jesus as a spiritual guide/teacher, without the centralised authority of the church and its intermediaries. TL;DR: Gnostics were adherents to Decentralisation of teachings of Jesus. WoW !

Beautiful message. He’s almost there. Touching on the Truth, but he’s missing a core part, that without, this all falls into chaos.

There is some truth to this. But, Jesus founded his Church on Peter. I agree, we are not separated from God because Jesus Himself is God and came to redeem that relationship. However, by denying God (sinning), we do separate ourselves from Him and constantly need Him.

Everyone is doing exactly what they were intended to do according to the scripture, The scripture is a prophecy that will be fulfilled, Prophecy is destiny if you believe in the scripture, you cannot believe in free will because free will is the extreme opposite of destiny and prophecy, According to the scripture, God is the alpha and the omega, the beginning and the end, the knower of all things he knows everything that we were ever going to do before we even took a breath of life, I understand the Bible speaks of free will, but this is terribly misleading, because the Bible is in fact, a prophecy that will be fulfilled if this is what you choose to believe

A seed of the Divine is placed in our hearts but if we don’t water it with the Living Water(Jesus Christ), if we continue to sin, the seed doesn’t bear fruit. It’s not just awareness, it’s living up your cross, denying self & following Jesus. The Bible is very clear. Choose wise.
