Perfect 1v1 Drill For Finding Your LOCKDOWN Defenders! Coach LoGalbo takes you through a drill that is perfect for finding your lockdown defenders that you can rely on when the lights turn on. As Nick LoGalbo says, it's a great way to find your "Rambo" which is a defender that you can rely on to defend your opponent’s best ball handler in the full court. And, an added offensive benefit to this drill, is that it allows for offensive players to work on their ball handling in the face of defensive pressure! This 1 on 1 Contain Drill is from Nick LoGalbo's Outer Third Defense (No Middle Defense). That's why the goal of this basketball drill is to force the opponent's primary ball handlers to the outer thirds of the basketball court (and out of the middle!) as soon as they catch the ball. By doing this, it allows the defense to dictate the entry pass to one side of the floor. By keeping the ball on the outer third of the basketball court, you can overload the backside of the defense which helps control the opponents passing lanes, deters easy passes and helps eliminate the dribble drive. You can incorporate this drill every other day in practice to re-emphasize to your defenders the importance of keeping the ball handlers out of the middle of the basketball court. Instructions and Keys to the 1 on 1 Contain Drill: - Give the ball handler a cushion. This makes it easier to contain them in the outer thirds. - Chest and contest a crossover to the middle. You do not turn your body. You must beat the offensive player to the spot and turn them back to the outer thirds. - If you get beat, you sprint ahead of the ball. You do not continue shuffling. - Keep the ball in the outer thirds the entire length of the court. It does not stop after the offensive player gets past half court. - The goal of the drill is to simply keep the ball handler in the outer thirds. - The defense should focus on beating the ball to the spot and chest to contest defense. - As soon as the first group gets to halfcourt, the second group begins. - After a group makes it all the way to the opposite baseline, they switch positions and get in line to repeat the drill going the opposite direction. Coaching Tips - Once a player gets chest to contest, they must spring back to get in front of the ball. Your goal is not to be running side by side. You must get in front of the offensive player. This prevents the offensive player from getting an angle to the basket. - After running through the drill for a specified amount of time, switch directions so the offensive players must focus on using both hands as their primary dribbling hand. - It is important to mix up players rather than like positions always competing against each other, so that players get used to guarding a wide variety of positions. It forces the players to adjust defensively regarding speed and skill. - Another positive of this drill is it gives you the ability to assess who your Rambo is: players who can work the point guard up the floor.

His off-the-ball movement is special, you can watch the clip below, he’s constantly scanning, creating angles, dragging defenders out of shape, and arriving in space at the right moments. In the PSL, you often see players pass the ball and then switch off, standing still and waiting for it to come back, that’s usually a sign of poor football development. Golf is about playing it as it lies. If your actions cause your ball to move, even if was a complete accident, it is a one stroke penalty and ball must be replaced. But keep in mind that there is no penalty if this happens in the teeing area or on the putting green!

Viktor Hovland made 8 birdies to close with a 5 under par 67 at the Masters. After the round, he went deep on the ball flight laws and the importance of matching up the club face to the swing path: “It's a good question. It's just tough to answer. First of all, that's why I like TrackMan and understanding the ball flight laws are very good to have because you can start a ball left, more left than you would like, but if it's curving back, who cares. That just means you're -- granted, if you're hitting it in the center your club path is just maybe creeping a bit more left, but if your face is in the right spot you're just hitting a bigger curve and then you can adjust that accordingly. “If you're starting the ball left and it's going left, is it a face issue, are you striking it off the heel and they're not coming back? There's a lot of minutiae involved with that. “If it's just a face-to-path issue or a club path direction, you can solve that pretty easily by playing a bigger cut or playing a bigger draw or moving it a bit more forward or back in the stance, simple stuff like that.” This is a great explanation that a lot of amateurs can learn from. You are going to love the Backpedal Pick concept. Instead of running towards the ball carrier to set your pick, do the opposite, backpedal and give ground, as the dodger approaches the pick. Backpedaling and keeping a cushion of space makes it much harder for the on-ball defender and the picker’s man to play their coverage. The Backpedal technique basically enables you to set a legal moving pick, meaning it’s a moving target, that the defense has trouble navigating. Then at the last moment, you can set your feet and can be stationary. If the on-ball defender wants to get under the pick, they can’t find an angle to get under. Also, the picker’s man struggles because they can’t easily get “outside the pick” position as the picker keeps retreating and giving ground. It’s almost like a legal moving seal! The backpedal pick technique is deadly around the goal line, making it impossible to get under and much harder for the picker’s guy to switch or jump it! One of the biggest keys to 2-man game is great pick setting and universally, kids don’t know how to set and adjust picks. I think you’ll find this pick technique will make a difference in your offense!

"They're not going to have a high enough draft pick to land a player like Leo Carlsson at No. 2 overall. Your only option is an offer sheet, and we just saw that didn't work. Or you overpay in free agency for a veteran who might put a Band-Aid on the problem for a couple of seasons, and then you're right back in the same spot."

Introducing the “Get” action in basketball to lacrosse! The “Get” is a 2man action where a player passes the ball to another player and sprints to go “Get” it back on a handoff. This action has similar concepts and reads to pick and roll, but the picker is actually the ball handler! In lacrosse, we have been experimenting with Gets because it creates so many interesting situations and reads for the players. The way we teach it in small sided games is to have one offensive player declare “I’m shut” and the defense has to face-guard him. From there we pick for the shut off player trying to spring them free for the Get. The ball handler has to engage and control their defender, anticipating the shut player trying to get open. The shut player can backdoor if being overplayed towards the get (rejecting the get), receive a flip, or continue curling around the ball getting open for a late pass. The ball handler can feed the reject, flip the ball, or fake the flip to attack the goal or make a late pass to the shut payer curling to the goal. I’ve seen examples of this run in men’s and women’s DI lacrosse at Ohio State and Northwestern, respectively and I’ve run this myself when I was coaching HS girls lacrosse. You will also see on this reel a sick application for Gets vs. a common big-little invert coverage where the short stick doesn’t go behind with his man and plays “Safety” in front of the net. Gets are fun for the players, are incredible for teaching your players 2man game on and off ball, dealing with double teams, and creativity with passing, and can be used to score goals. So much of development can be solved by focusing on shooting and playing. Within the playing focusing on ball handling (getting 2 feet in the paint), finishing, decisions and reads, guarding on ball and off ball. If you play with purpose and get your shooting reps up before or after you’ll put yourself in a great spot during the off season.

A one-touch pass there would’ve put Pedri in a really tough spot, but De Jong fixes the issue by taking three extra touches, forcing the Benfica player to step back and cover the space, instead of pressing Pedri. That slight delay gives Pedri more time on the ball to decide his next move. The entire buildup started from De Jong holding the ball.

Do this drill 100 times a day & there's a high chance you minimise your slice by at LEAST 50% It's hard not to improve after doing this 100 times a day for a week or 2 Place alignment stick 1 club length back behind the ball AND half a foot OUTSIDE the ball line. Angle it so it's the same angle as the club you have in your hands
