Good players have a BIG PROBLEM … That often keeps them from becoming great!!! …. They don’t like to look bad when they are training/practicing…. The result? They don’t challenge themselves. They stay in a comfort zone. Growth comes from challenge and eventual mastery. Start stacking bricks. Conquer a skill and then build on it.. Start simple and predictable and move towards complex and unpredictable. This is where authentic confidence is found! Yes, simple and predictable (easy) can be a part of your routine, especially as a warm up. But there needs to be an element of hard, or very hard in your offensive and defensive process. Why? The game is very hard and one day you want to be able to make the hard look easy… so begin to DO HARD BETTER! @DirtBroUSA @nextlevelbb @CoachTaberM @ThePBPro @CoachBradPorter

Hitting through the baseball and holding positions should be your focus in your work. True ball flight. Learn to hit through the ball to the pullside the right way. This turns into OPS. Not selling out for speed or PRS snap hooking balls to the pullside.

🔥 Last night on MLM+ Chats With Pros Seattle Mariners Asst. Hitting Coach Bobby Magallanes dropped a gem on the on-deck routine. In line with what Bobby is talking about in the video is something I non-stop try to get across to hitters at all levels: Act like you’re in the box when you’re on deck. That means: Same breath; Same self-talk; Same body language The on-deck circle is a great place to slow the game down, lock in mentally, and build better timing before you ever step in the box. Most hitters wait until they’re in the box to compete. Elite hitters start that process on deck. So remember, your routine doesn’t start at the plate. It starts way before you get in the box. (technically it started last night with a great PM routine and solid night of sleep!)

Controlled aggression and purpose behind every swing. Don’t just push the ball around the field. But don’t swing max effort trying to hit pull-side home runs every round of BP either. MLB hitters are the strongest and most physical players in the game. They could launch balls out all day if they wanted to. Yet the great ones understand that batting practice is about building a swing that performs in games. Watch hitters like Miguel Cabrera. Sure, they hit some out, but they aren’t constantly hooking and top-spinning balls to the pull side. They’re hunting backspin and driving the baseball with authority. Controlled aggression and driving the ball to the opposite-field gap helps hitters stay on fastballs to all fields, avoid pulling off, and buy time to adjust to off-speed pitches and breaking balls. Many amateur hitters struggle with both because they train their swing to look good in BP, not perform in games. They become one-dimensional. Be a mature hitter. Train for game performance, not batting practice applause.

Great coaching is identifying the problem, finding the root cause, and determine a viable solution. ⁠ ⁠ If hitters are pulling their shoulder (or head) or stepping out, learn how to figure out what is causing them to pull their shoulder/head or step out.
