Alongside other fire services, we have been using different techniques to support firefighting efforts. This clip shows specialists backburning strips of heathland, in order to remove available fuels, helping prevent the blaze from spreading further.

Once again firefighters have been working through the night at the scene of the New Forest wildfire, continuing to make good progress, but we still expect to be on scene for the next few days, with the A31 remaining closed. Read more -

Why can't you ask to have few Water bomber helicopters dropping nearly 5000 litres of water each time on the forest ? you would save firefighters and reopen the road extremely quick and we have the seaside only 10 minutes flight time away
