It does work backwards through the formula, but in a slightly different way. So if you try to estimate target size from a known distance it can do that as well. I can do one on that if needed, too.

What's a "sniper card". Do you mean a DOPE card? Because that doesn't estimate range for you. It gives you the elevation adjustment you'd use once you estimated the range. Which you can get with the watch. Or doing the math on the fly. I don't do math on fly.

Well, this seems to take a LOT longer than a snipercard with some equations and a Ti-83 calculator...

I spent 8 minutes explaining it to simplify it. It takes ten seconds to do if you’re retarded. A man-sized target is 19inches wide. I mil that, spin the dial, adjust my rifle, and send it.

Explain the “mil dot system” to me like I’m five.

Do you know how long it's been since I studied this shit. Mil dots represent some moment of angle. I forget. But, with them and their width you can pretty easily judge distances and sizes and all of that kind of thing. The dots themselves have a specific MOA. Not sure if it depends on the scope but there is likely a military standard MOA for them for their scopes. The point is, you can make these kind of judgements in seconds just by looking through the scope and looking at the dots. Do I have to go and bust out my copy of "The Ultimate Sniper" or something to satisfy you here?

I checked out when you said “the dots themselves have a specific MOA”. I’m not trying to be an asshole, but you’re a bit out of your depth on this topic. The point of the watch isn’t to be a next generation technology. It’s to have a nice watch with a few functional features that’s an ode to the discipline of long range. It’s designed by and currently fielded with people actively performing the function of shooting people from a distance as a profession. You’re being a Practicality Patrick on a subject matter you’re not knowledgeable enough to cover. Have a great evening.

This is a pretty stupid argument. It's a well-priced watch. I like watches. It has functionality. The functionality works, but at worst it's a well-priced watch that has an ode to long range shooting on it. I like watches, and I like long range. The functionality is secondary.

WTF is wrong with a 15" target is 38cm. 380/0.6=630m I can do that in my head about as fast as you can turn the dial. Oh sure, I'm off 5m cause I didn't use all the decimals, but the watch has estimation on it too.
