Correction. An F-15 has never been shot down before in history. The same goes for the A-10, that was shot down hours later. Iran carried out what no nation has ever done. That shows they are capable and well armed, able to exploit technological weaknesses the US weren't expecting.

After thousands of flights, Iran managed to down a single 50+ year old plane. I am not quaking in my boots.

They are yet to fight a force with good air force and air defence system . Iran was using decades old jets and air defence system and even then after around month of war USAF is unable to obtain complete air dominance.

F-15 was not shot down, the plane malfunctioned. If it was actually shot down by some sort heat seeking missile system we would have known about it and the F-22 flying high and above would have taken out the source praying for pilot recovery, because rules of engagement change
