I am a very deep sleeper. Can sleep through car crashes, sirens, lightening, etc. If a child whispers or whimpers I'm up like a flash. My husband wakes up to everything I sleep through. Very interesting.

Not surprised, another perfect example of us not being the same and wired differently. And we have different roles to preform because of biology & nature. No amount of drugs and lies can change who we are at the core. You cannot change genders and there are only 2.

My husband was very much like this when our kids were young. Now years later I have seizures and even though he’s a heavy sleeper he will wake up if I move a certain way. He has saved my life many times because of this

Lots of guys I know did not get this hormone.

Yet ANOTHER very good reason male couples shouldn’t legally be able to adopt.

Don't the fathers simply get used to sleeping while the baby cries? What are they going to do, get up and chestfeed the baby?

Father’s are protectors & produce a Vasopressin hormone which causes them to be attuned to predatory threat. It’s nature calling, involving a heightened, evolved state of alertness to subtle environmental cues like sounds or motion that signal potential danger & often driven by the "predatory imminence continuum".

A crying baby is a signal to stuff a tit in its mouth. What is a guy supposed to do?

Ugh. Not evolution. If anything, it's natural selection. Fathers who heard the leaves rustle survived in greater numbers than those that didn't hear them.

With my kids I tune out most ordinary noise. But if they make a sound of pain, or a sound that signals threat, it immediately raises the hackles on the back of my neck. I feel it physically. There is a surge of adrenaline, like my body has already decided that I need to go save them. That reaction matters to me. I like it. It is clean, fast, and unambiguous. Because of that, I tell them that making noise is fine. Noise is part of being alive. But they need to be careful about the kind of noise they make without reason, because my body responds very differently depending on what it hears. With my wife, it is different. She hears everything they do.

I'm guessing there's a whole lotta guys under 30 that no longer have that ability.

Men are built to hear lower tones and women are buil to hear higher tones like babies crying.

I learned a 2nd language as an adult and I was a musician. It turns out, musicians have a knack for languages and accents. I could identify subtle differences of my baby’s crying. One cry meant hunger. Another meant change diaper. Another meant wanting sleep. Wife was oblivious.

Men's logic also lets them know what type of cry it is; It's just a fussy cry-no big deal, it's an upset cry-lets see if the baby settles down, it's a mad cry, a scared cry, a dream fidgety cry, and fathers/men will respond accordingly, that's why when a toddler falls dad says get up and brush yourself off, any blood? Your good, but a mom will run over full of needless anxiety and make matters actually worse because now the child is scared and starts to cry over little shit like a fall on grass, the child also learns that it can control the parents (the mom anyway) when it cries or shows any signs of stress.

I have experienced this, kids mother would wake up hearing them while I slept right through it but I wake up hearing something outside while she slept through it, very real!

Then why is the wife who wakes up to the noise in the night? "Honey. Honey. Wake up. Did you hear that?? That! "

Makes sense. I remember my father would hear things outside we didn't even notice. But when I'd say I heard something outside. It was like he already heard it and determined it wasn't a threat. And tell me what it most likely was. But would go outside anyway to ease my mind.

Well, God designed us this way but yes. There are other things too. You ever try to find something for your wife, and you can’t but she immediately does upon her first look? It’s because men are designed to notice movement better than women. The same way women can see more colors than men.

That sounds true. Every time me and my wife walk in the woods, I hear and see every deer, squirrel, before she does and have to point them out. Takes an hour of her talking, to notice she came home. Now she'll know If she wants me to listen lay naked and crumple some leaves.

So THAT’S why my father always knew when I was sneaking around the house at night. Damn. It makes sense.

I stay home with the little kids while my wife works. The second a child cries I fly out of bed in an instant while my wife sleeps. So I think our social roles play the main role here.

This is bullshit. vasopressin regulates water retention, blood pressure and kidney function. It does have behavioral effects, but the same hormone in women produces the opposite behavior it does in men, where it inhibits aggression.

God made man protector, mom the nurturer, evolution is nonsense.
