This is such a heart warming exercise. With so much talk of cultural appropriation it sometimes is refreshing to find common language in food. Basically Sadza, sitshwala to Zimbabweans is like snow to the Inuits. Some nuances better be left to the experts but it needs to cook half way through first before thickening to a solid blob that will not splatter slowly to the floor if you turn it upside down but go in one go. Not too hard though that it would even choke your dog just enough to stay in the stomach. 🤣👌❤️

🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁The Team Fulo Choice Award goes to none other than Samaita, Ambassador Pete Vowles!🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳 When you said “I have a plan ,” we had no idea what we were in for. Because from the moment the event kicked off, you took us by storm🌪️😁🤣😅 You plunged us into a joy-filled ride of laughter, excitement, good vibes… and a whole lot of learning too! You reminded us of the richness in our culinary traditions; celebrating local businesses, cooking from scratch, and of course, shining a spotlight on the legendary hari, which even sparked a full-blown nomenclature debate on our timeline! Your passion, energy, and commitment were undeniable. You poured your heart, soul, and sweat into this challenge, and it showed. On behalf of the entire Team Fulo family THANK YOU for showing up with such enthusiasm. You truly brought the spirit of community to life, and this award is just a small token of our appreciation for everything you gave. We’re also thrilled to announce that TK Chemicals has sponsored a prize in your honour, to be donated to a charity or cause of your choice. What a beautiful way to continue giving back. #AmbassadorsCookOffZW Please Repost. Last year the #AmbassadorsCookOffZW ended with great food ,bragging rights, and most importantly it ended with something far more meaningful. When the Kingdom of The Netherlands Ambassador to Zimbabwe Margret Verwijk ,winner of the 2025 #AmbassadorsCookOffZW , handed over the first of 200 litres of paint donated by TK Chemicals manufacturers of Jordan Paints to the Jairos Jiri Children’s Centre in Southerton,Harare, it became a moment none of us in the room will forget. 😊 The centre, which houses children living with disabilities, welcomed the donation as a chance to brighten and refresh the buildings. Representatives from Jairos Jiri, TK Chemicals, and colleagues from the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Dutch Embassy Harare 🇳🇱 and myself, gathered for what turned into a deeply emotional handover ceremony. What started as a fun diplomatic cook-off had come full circle directly touching lives in our community. I must say I was cutting onions, eyes welling up 🥲 As we move closer to #AmbassadorsCookOffZW 2026, this video is a reminder of what happens when partners and sponsors step up. Together we can turn a friendly competition into real, visible impact. If your organisation is looking for a meaningful way to elevate your brand while supporting a worthy cause, this is your moment to come on board. Let’s cook, and give back. Let’s make an even bigger difference this year. Massive respect and thank you to all the ambassadors who participated in the first and second editions Pete Vowles (Samaita) Australian Embassy, Zimbabwe (Amai Manyama,H.E Minoli Perera) 🇦🇺Berna Kasnaklı Türkiye 🇹🇷 Barets Paul-Bertrand 🇫🇷 Consul General Murad Baseer 🇵🇰 (Redployed) Adler ARISTILDE🇨🇦 🇨🇦(Chihwa) First Edition in 2024 H.E Jobst von Kirchmann represented the EU. and C Mendes then Deputy Director of the WFP Zimbabwe won the inaugural #AmbassadorsCookOffZW. Tuesday was a profoundly moving day for TeamFuloZim/Global as I had the honour of joining Her Excellency Margret Verwijk Margret Verwijk, Ambassador of The Kingdom of the Netherlands to Zimbabwe, in handing over her prize from the 2025 #AmbassadorsCookOffZW to a cause close to her heart. Affectionately known as “Manyoni”, Ambassador Verwijk was crowned the winner of this year’s Cook-Off with her delicious #PeanutButterRice and #RoadRunnerChicken ,a true celebration of Zimbabwean flavours. But her real victory lay not in the kitchen, but in the kindness she showed afterwards. Her prize is a generous 250 litres of paint, donated by TK Chemicals, makers of Jordan Paints. Her chosen recipient is Jairos Jiri Children’s Home and School in Harare ,a place quietly carrying out the kind of work that should make headlines. The school is home to over 140 children living with disabilities, supported by a tireless team of educators, carers and physiotherapists. Their mission is simple but profound: to restore dignity, offer education, and give these young souls a fair shot at life. Their facilities, however, tell a tougher story ,walls in desperate need of colour and care. Experts tell us this donation can cover over 2,000 square metres. That’s hope applied one stroke at a time. Being there was more than humbling. It was a wake-up call. A reminder that there are institutions quietly doing the heavy lifting, far from the spotlight, often under-resourced, but still showing up every single day for the most vulnerable among us. To the Jairos Jiri team ,your work is sacred. Thank you for what you do. To TK Chemicals ,your generosity will leave a mark in lives. To H.E. @MargretVerwijk ,thank you for leading with heart and grace, and for choosing to uplift where it’s most needed. To all the incredible ambassadors who made this year’s #AmbassadorsCookOffZW so memorable ,Canada’s Adler ARISTILDE🇨🇦 Adler Aristilde, Australia’s Australian Embassy, Zimbabwe Minoli Perera, Pakistan’s Consul General Murad Baseer, Türkiye’s @BernaKasnakli, France’s Barets Paul-Bertrand and the UK’s Pete Vowles ,thank you for bringing diplomacy to the dinner table in the most meaningful way. And finally, to my TeamFuloZim/Global crew ,Chef Vie Matongo, Lia Larsen and Ish Rupanga ,thank you for being the engine behind this dream. Graze and banter brought us here . It’s was about community, compassion and the kind of collaboration that actually changes lives. #PiePatrol #OrientalPies #Bulawayo Pepper Steak Pie. Last year I reviewed the steak and kidney pie from Bulawayo’s iconic Oriental Pies on Ninth Avenue. That one caused a stir, especially from the Surrey Pie , Marondera fans.😆😆 Fast forward to Wednesday , I got my hands on their pepper steak pie. Missed the UK’s Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Pete “Samaita” Vowles,Pete Vowles by a whisker. Turns out he had just been there minutes before me, grabbing a few pies and chicken samoosas. 😅 Now, to the business at hand on behalf of TeamFuloZim/Global. This pie is packed, no guesswork required. From the first bite, you meet juicy, tender beef, well-seasoned , I’m thinking with crushed peppercorns doing most of the talking. It delivers exactly what it promises. No hunting around like that disappointing Pick 'n'Pay Northend; Bulawayo steak pie I had recently, where I needed three bites to find a lonely cube of beef. Here, every bite counts. No air pockets, no zero empty spaces, solid filling throughout. The pepper doesn’t rush you. It builds and hits the palate like an echo. Around the third bite, it settles in a gentle heat that lingers . It doesn't shout. Only drawback for me is the pastry. It’s a bit pale , "anaemic" and slightly doughy. It could use more browning and a touch of gloss to get that crisp, flaky finish , especially when you compare it to the Surrey Pie out in Marondera. At US$3, though, this is excellent value. Filling, full of flavour, and satisfying. Score: 8.5/10 . TeamFuloZim/Global #TheKingIsAround ##HappinessIsOurBusiness

Today is Defence Forces Day Holiday in Zimbabwe, a day Zimbabweans reflect on the works done by their military. The Commander of Zimbabwe’s Defence Forces, General Valerio Sibanda, speaks here about the main thing that has destroyed Zimbabwe, CORRUPTION. “We were taught to share, but some of us went wayward,” says General Valerio Sibanda. Unfortunately the Rhodesian narrative that General Sibanda used has become the Zimbabwean lived reality, of ZANUPF political elites looting public funds whilst ordinary citizens go to bed on empty stomachs! How tragic is that? Corruption now resides in the Government of Zimbabwe, it is its heartbeat driven by the looting of public funds and the plunder of the country’s natural resources. On this important day when we reflect with the military about its works and existence, it is worth noting that Zimbabwe has no single working radiotherapy cancer treatment machine. So when our soldiers require radiotherapy treatment after getting cancer, they have nowhere to go, they will die. It is worth remembering that 2500 women die every year giving birth in Zimbabwe. That tragic number will include wives of our soldiers, it is because that the biggest hospital in Zimbabwe only has ONE maternity theatre built in 1977 by the Rhodesian Government. So the image of the ZANUPF political elite with a mountain of food in his plate whilst the hungry citizen starves came true sadly, we live with it daily. Happy Defence Day Commander General Sibanda and all your men and women in uniform. Thank you for reminding us that we are not lying when we talk about corruption. RETWEET for all to hear this important message by the General.

#AmbassadorsCookOffZW ,2025 -#Zvinyenze! #GoatTripe #GoatIntestines Good morning from my hospital bed, where I’m hooked up to a drip for a pesky bout of low blood pressure (nothing too serious, just enough to keep me off my feet for a bit). Even so, I couldn’t let this moment pass without reaching out to you all! Last year, I posed a question: "Beyond mastering linguistic and cultural skills, how many ambassadors serving in Zimbabwe 🇿🇼🇿🇼can whip up one of the country’s culinary classics? Have these diplomats learned to cook a good ol’ Zim staple without relying on their chefs?" From that curiosity, the #AmbassadorsCookOffZW was born. Thanks to eight diplomats who embraced the TeamFuloZim/Global challenge, they stepped up to the plate—quite literally—and prepared one of Zimbabwe’s beloved dishes: highfiridzi. By taking part in the 2024 #AmbassadorsCookOffZW, these eight ambassadors won over a whole new audience. They gained followers and connected with Zimbabweans—youth, elders, and everyday folks—they might never have otherwise met or spoken with. Now, it’s that time of year again. TeamFuloZim/Global is throwing down the gauntlet, inviting ALL ambassadors serving in Zimbabwe to participate in a #CookOff like no other. As announced on Sunday, March 2, 2025, this year’s challenge is to rustle up another Zimbabwean favourite: zvinyenze (goat tripe wrapped with goat intestines), alongside a separate dish of cow tripe, both served with the quintessential isitshwala/sadza/pap and greens such as kovho, rape, or nyevhe. Ambassadors, accept the challenge by replying with the hashtags #AmbassadorsCookOffZW and #TeamFulo 👍🏽. Follow TeamFuloZim/Global for updates, rules, and T&Cs. Start gathering your ingredients and share pics or videos of yourself shopping, chopping, and setting up your cooking space (but save the final dish reveal for a DM to TeamFuloZim/Global). Entries close on Friday, April 4, 2025, followed by LIVE polling. Ambassadors, check out the video below and keep an eye out for recipe cards from TeamFuloZim/Global’s Chef de Cuisine @VieMatongo and her deputy COOKING WITH LIA 👩🏾‍🍳🌱. TeamFuloZim/Global Family ! Tag the ambassadors you’d love to see take part. #DiplomatsCookForYou #TeamFulo #Graze #Banter #Friendship #CulturalImmersion PRESS PLAY▶️👇🏽

Good day Crime Watch Zimbabwe, I am asking for your help to bring this matter to the attention of the relevant authorities. I am employed by Instyle Civils Pvt Ltd, trading as Dairibord Zimbabwe Pvt Ltd, as the Depot Manager at the Karoi Depot. In March 2026, I won a labour case against the company for unpaid salaries and benefits amounting to US$8,400. This money was owed to me for the period from July 2025 to January 2026. I have also not been paid any salary from February 2026 to June 2026, even though I continued reporting for work and carrying out my duties as Depot Manager. I believe the company was withholding my salaries in an effort to force me to resign, even though I had done nothing wrong. The company appealed the ruling, and the matter is now before the Labour Court in Harare. We are still waiting for the court's written judgment. From Monday to Wednesday this week, everything was normal and I continued working as usual. However, when I arrived at work on Thursday, 2 July 2026, I found that the company had removed all stock and assets from the Karoi Depot during the night without informing me. I later learned that the other seven employees knew that the company was moving the stock and assets, but they had allegedly been told not to inform me, even though I am the Depot Manager responsible for the depot. Because of the ongoing labour case, I am concerned about the removal of the company's stock and assets. I kindly ask the relevant authorities to look into the matter and make sure everything was done legally and properly. I am willing to provide supporting documents, including the labour ruling and Labour Court case details, if needed. Thank you for your assistance. Dairibord Zimbabwe Private Limited

Excited to share that I’m currently on a fully sponsored study trip to Canada, courtesy of the Lagos State Government, at Queen’s University! 🇨🇦 It’s been over a week since I arrived, and between jet lag, time zone shifts, the long flight from Lagos, and a packed academic schedule, I’m still adjusting 😅…Nigeria is 5 hours ahead, and it’s been fascinating to experience the difference, it doesn’t get dark here until around 9 or 10pm, and by 5am everywhere is already bright. The nights are very short, and the days are really long.. Grateful to the Lagos State Government for this opportunity i honestly can’t thank them enough.. Dear South Africans, I agree that your country carries the continent’s illegal immigration burden. I also agree that it has consequences for social services, as locals compete with illegal immigrants for first access to healthcare and other social services. In this video, your ruling party’s ANC - African National Congress Youth League President, Collen Majatji, travelled with his team to Zimbabwe to express solidarity with ZANUPF during a week when Zimbabweans were protesting against President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s regime. He stated that the ANC supports ZANUPF—the very institution that has created the illegal immigration nightmare in your country. He mocked the protests by Zimbabweans, claiming they are a figment of the western media’s imagination. Many South Africans who follow me on social media frequently ask the same question: “Why don’t your people fight against this regime and remove it?” Many Zimbabweans respond by saying the ANC backs this regime, giving it moral and regional support through your government making it difficult for us to fight it. Do you now understand why the question of why we cannot fight back becomes hollow in light of this evidence, which I present here again and have repeatedly shown in the past here, where various senior ANC officials have shown the middle finger to the efforts of Zimbabweans to remove ZANUPF? The illegal immigration crisis in your country is no longer just a foreign policy issue; it has become a domestic one. You are now forced to share the few available jobs and limited public services with illegal immigrants from Zimbabwe. What do you expect Zimbabweans to do? What can they do when your ruling party offers political support to the very ZANUPF party that authored the misery and pain in Zimbabwe—and is responsible for the illegal immigration crisis in South Africa? What do you expect us to do when our tormentors are openly supported by your ruling party, the ANC? How do you think we feel, as Zimbabweans, when we are insulted by the ruling party Youth League leader, who says our efforts to free ourselves from this monstrous regime are western-sponsored? Unfortunately, for now, you will have to endure the influx of illegal immigrants from Zimbabwe—until the day you are ready to hold the ANC accountable for its duplicitous behaviour; pretending to fight illegal immigration while collecting kickbacks from ZANUPF for public solidarity. The ANC has become a bad neighbour to our people—a neighbour who comes to support a violent father who brutalises his children, and when those children run next door and the neighbour’s own children complain, he pretends to side with them—while still entertaining the abuser. This is wrong. It makes me so mad and angry—I am livid watching this, because I know how my people are suffering, some sleeping on the streets of Johannesburg—yet these ANC thugs come to Zimbabwe to insult us at a time we are trying to free ourselves from this monster called Mnangagwa. I would be grateful if every South African reading this took a moment to reflect on what I have said. My people do not enjoy doing menial jobs in South Africa—they also want to live in their own country. What the ANC continues to do shows that it is a politically vacuous organisation that has lost its moral compass. Nelson Mandela and Oliver Tambo must be turning in their graves, watching how their once glorious revolutionary organisation has been turned into a bankrupt political shell. Seventy percent of women giving birth at Musina Hospital in Limpopo are Zimbabwean—the ANC clearly supports that. Wages for South Africans are depressed when they compete for jobs with illegal immigrants who have been forced out of Zimbabwe by the dire political and economic meltdown—the ANC clearly supports that. The gall to go to Zimbabwe and tell people trying to free themselves that they are Western-sponsored. This kind of disrespect is not only painful, but unnecessary!
