uh - that's because there are only about half a dozen good NO. 10's in the world

If ya can’t produce one, then recruiting can be the answer, especially from Europe, not the one in MLS. No more MLS lifers, I’m sick of watching them being listed in the roster.

It’s not just the USA. Analytics have phased out the traditional 10 in favor of guys who can cover as much ground as possible and press press press. The creativity all seems to come from the wings these days.

Players like pirlo, iniesta, xavi, modric probably would’ve been overlooked in youth setups in the USA cause they would not be as fast or athletic as other players. The cerebral component of the sport has definitely been overlooked in the USA historically
