To the best of my knowledge, these are not border jumpers or illegal aliens. While they are not citizens, they entered the country legally, via work visa or obtaining green card status. At least that is the current standard. This idea has been kicked around longer than most people know. Having been in LE, I am not a fan of the idea. With the current border situation, this opens the door. I feel the current govt will attempt to use illegals at some point. There are also provisions in place for non citizens to join our military. There are specific requirements for both military and law enforcement. Again, not a fan because this administration has probably considered bending the rules.
