Today it's a graduation, tomorrow it could be any event. Public roads must remain accessible to the public irrespective of what ever.

It also happens in Kumasi. The question that keeps bothering me is, if there’s an emergency situation and that’s the only route available, what will they do?

most get permission from the municipal assembles, they pay for road block, others take power into their hands and its the work of the task force to check the out.

Unfortunately, only a few have permits. If you try to question it, they will beat you basaaa because you may hear something saying “…the land is there and they can do whatever they want…” It’s very frustrating but that’s what has become the norm in our capital city.

This country di33 the lack of discipline and immersed self-centredness is part of our parents. They only blame the Gen Zs. The generation of age ranges between 30s to 70s are the most indiscipline and egoistic. They are the cause of problems. They are highly corrupt.

Public roads are built for everyone, not private events. Celebrations are important, but blocking roads and disrupting daily movement should not become normal.

A wedding, funeral, or graduation is a special moment, but public spaces come with public responsibilities. There must be a balance.

@GhPoliceService You need to (1) ensure clear directives on this and (2) be sure for public service announcements to be done during the weekends or whatever streets will be blocked for social activities. cc: @MinterGh

If every institution and individual starts turning roads into event grounds, traffic chaos will become unavoidable. Authorities need to enforce the rules.

Do they get permit from the police or they just randomly get up and block the roads? Because it happens a lot

The issue is not celebrating achievements; it's using public roads without considering thousands of other people who depend on them.

There’s a law that allows people to block sections of the road once they’ve obtained a permit from the appropriate authorities

This has been going on for a long time. Most of them don't even obtain a permit before blocking the road. The average Ghanaian is grossly undisciplined.

A society needs order. Private events should have proper arrangements instead of inconveniencing the entire community.

This is what happens when cities and towns are built without proper infrastructure planning. Communities should have spaces or parks that can accommodate such events every now and then.
