All countries should openly condemn this blatant abuse of women and girls?. Women all over the globe, particularly those from strong patriarchal countries, should be perturbed by this. If it is okay in Afghanistan, it may soon be okay elsewhere.

It is deeply tragic to see the Taliban brutally beat #Afghanistan women simply for participating in protests to demand their most basic rights. It is equally concerning that #India 🇮🇳 , the world’s largest democracy, few weeks ago, invited the Taliban regime’s foreign minister despite its record of oppressing women and gender apartheid and legitimate the regime oppression against the women of Afghanistan.

Our campaign “United Against Gender Apartheid” is based on the stories of powerful women who experienced gender discrimination but instead of being silent, they are using their cameras, to be the the tru worriers and pushing for gender apartheid to be criminalized. We call on all the feminist men and women especially in the West to join our fight. We should support the voices of Iranian, Afghan, Sudanese etc women. Global campaigns against rape, execution, gender apartheid, and human rights are where we all can agree on. A few months ago, Afghan women came forward to share testimony for the People’s Tribunal for Women of Afghanistan. Their courage helped produce today’s judgment, which finds the Taliban responsible for gender persecution and operating an apartheid-like system of control over girls and women. The judgment also highlights a major gap. International law does not yet recognise gender apartheid as a crime. Afghan women made this moment possible and they want real action.
