i do want to ask. what made you guys think from a cybersecurity stand point this was going to work? harvesting a users data is common but you basically pressed the wrong people for it. online safety and anonymity is a huge thing in the online furry space what made your people.

It's an open source program that did not store sensitive information, only for one time verification. But from the stand point of the consumer we've taken the criticism and removed it. Never our intention to do wrong or be malicious

we were never searching someones device it used your jinxxy license and attached it to your discord account. that is all.

as someone else stated didnt it require you to install a sketchy EXE?

the process was you downloaded the unity package then imported into your project. It would ask you to verify and redirect you toe YUCP website to insert your product key, the it would ask you to link your discord. Then once thats done you go back and the install began.

DRM never stopped anyone from pirating stuff. I understand your intentions were good but please understand that you will not solve this problem. Just a reminder that you can rip off models from GPU memory. That being said, any kind of threat is unacceptable.

Genuinely curious but you have no role in the creation of the model, so why should anyone direct anything at you? Threats/Dox etc should never happen but all of the other criticism is warranted for what you guys were trying to do. I'm glad y'all got rid of the drm.

You should direct it at me because I’m tired of seeing my friends be bullied by people with hatred behind their words. Criticism was never the issue we value you that. But to have mutuals and friends say they believe we put this out with ill intent is disgusting

Did you not consider reaching out to Valuefactory with regards to how he implemented a simple DRM in his products? I agree the harassment, doxxing etc are out of line but, the way this was handled in every way was just poor.

The DRM used by value is active and more intrusive than what ours was. We will not be revisiting anything like this anymore.

The reason I suggested it was because people don't tend to have issues with his implementation. Aye it makes it so the project won't compile to game mode without it, but he managed to do it in a palatable way. We're a community so we should all be pulling from communal skills imo

@MarviWuff i hated it so much i fully uninstalled and no longer use anything valuefactory related. it randomly popped up every time i tried to open unity and made me long back in constantly. any DRM is simply a push on the consumer to pirate, as pirates do not have to deal with DRMs

There's no way you got doxxed or death threats, esp. not to the degree yous eem to be implying. All this is is an attempt to manipulate people into feeling guilty for ever criticizing you & so you can manufacture consent for eventually reinstating your invasive DRM.

Death threats and doxxing is insanely fucked. People will do insanely horrible things in this community and completely get off free. I don't agree with the DRM tool in the slightest but what happened to you guys is unacceptable. Hope everyone is okay!

It's honestly insane that you guys even had to makes posts like this, alot of people make their livings off of avatar creation and deserve to not have their product just stolen, especially when it comes to the wild west of VRchat where it's is worryingly easy to rip and steal

I honestly could care less about the verification, I'm gonna get the avatar still, so sad that this had to happen the way it did, even more sad how people could do such things to Yeusepe or anyone that's involved on the Druffle :/

Great avatar, good work, as Lunar lowkey always does! But I just don't see a world, where this system wouldn't have resolved in pushback. We are pushing back at the exact same thing being done by big company's for years. Obv, NOT okay people went that far with hate tho.

So people who have a bigger following are to shame, because you decided to use a program that gathered more personal information than required, and it was installed by a third party app on a PC without seeing anything, sure, they are to blame. Not you idiots at all.

Big hugs Marvii and rest of crew, none of you guys deserve this treatment. This got blown way out of proportions... Vrc has major problems with asset sharing, hell go look at vrmodels... jinxy really needs something that confirms purchases without need for 3rd party tools.
