Canada formally applied to join the UK led Joint Expeditionary Force. This appears to be a focus on moving away from US. Lets look at some of the moves together rather than one at a time and the pattern is clear: Canada became the first non EU country in the EU's defense procurement program. Joined the UK-Italy-Japan Global Combat Air Programme as an observer. Canada also cut its firm F-35 commitment from an originally planned 88 jets down to just 16.

The German and French governments have announced a realignment of the European Future Combat Air System (FCAS). While the development of the overarching 'System of Systems' is progressing as before, the 6th-generation fighter aircraft integrated within it requires a new, agile industrial setup. Together with AUTOFLUG GmbH, Diehl Defence, HENSOLDT, Liebherr Group, MBDA Deutschland, MTU Aero Engines, and Rohde & Schwarz, we at Airbus Defence and Space stand ready to take on the responsibility for a 6th-generation fighter aircraft. Closely integrated with the German partners, the Spanish industry is also forming up with the companies Indra, Airbus, grupo_oesia, GMV, ITP Aero, and Sener. As Team Gen 6, we have the capabilities and the capacities.
