First Minister Michelle O’Neill was in west Belfast on Wednesday to launch the Irish language-led Anti-Racism Week. Hosted by the Irish language sports and wellbeing facility Spórtlann na hÉireann, Fáilte 26 welcomed people of all backgrounds to share their cultures, engage in discussion, and build the solidarity needed to overcome racism. The initiative is supported by the Community Relations Council, Belfast City Council, and United Against Racism, and features a packed programme of music, dance and debate. 🎥 Dylan Hegarty

Belfast has reached a “tipping point” due to rising levels of anti-social behaviour, a business owner said ahead of the Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann coming to the city. Richard Evans, owner of The Pocket cafe, has accused Belfast City Council of “a total lack of planning, coordination, and action” in an open letter, warning that the state of the city centre “poses a serious risk to the reputation of Belfast and to the safety of those attending” the festival, being held here for the first time in August. Mr Evans, whose own premises was broken into and vandalised on Saturday morning, told The Irish News that the city was in urgent need of help.

A Belfast man who went to an auction to support a friend, and ended up spending £90,000 on a library, says he wants to use it as a cross-community space and ‘create a new Northern Ireland’. Carnegie Oldpark Library is a historic 1906 Carnegie‑funded building in north Belfast, created to bring learning and opportunity. Largely unused since its 2010 closure, it is now the focus of a community‑led restoration project. Quintin Oliver, who grew up in east Belfast and now lives in the south of the city, told The Irish News that Carnegie’s aspirations inspired him when he happened to buy the historic building. 🎥 Dylan Hegarty
