The experts at the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority and the Australian Institute of Marine Science have confirmed we are unfortunately seeing a mass bleaching event unfold on the Great Barrier Reef. You can check out an update from them here:

We need to act on climate change. We need to protect our special places and the plants and animals that call them home. And that is exactly what we are doing.

But Tanya you just told UNESCO the GBF was just fine. What happened? How many new coal and gas projects have you approved since sept 2023? #ClimateCrisis

Hysteria as usual from ALP. it isn't bleaching on the southern end. I snorkeled over Christmas and didn't see any sign of bleaching at all.

Sorry @tanya_plibersek greenwashing and announcements of money won’t save the Great Barrier Reef. Ending coal, oil and gas projects will.👇🏽

Just keep approving coal mines until the problem improves. Few more in Queensland your mate @StevenJMiles needs rubber stamped, hop to it.

@BethCharleston "helping the reef adapt to climate change" .. gah, coral reefs are highly sensitive to temperature variability, they are the canary in the coal mine, they die first .. so how are you going to change the temperature of the water Tanya? because anything else is money down the drain
