This is all well and good, but what about the fact that you just approved a gas project for Santos (your biggest donor, wonder if that has something to do with it) until 2077?!

Tanya..this is a good start!! But it would be more beneficial insisting that "packaging" must be in other forms other than plastic!! If they want to sell their products..they'll do it!!

I love that the rusted on cheer squad are here for this but provided absolute crickets when you green-lit Santos to operate until 2077.. then again, you didn’t provide so much as a media release for that one!

Created by the Nazis sustainable development included a concern for recycling & their 4y war plan was guided by sustainable development concerns. Why is this sustainable development shoved in our face everywhere today Tanya? UN Nazis inspired policy is NOT welcome in Australia!

This is great, because I've been hoarding the soft plastics in my garage like a weirdo

Why are you allowing logging in National Park in Victoria under the guise of "fire management", where's the science?

Everything in shops is covered in plastic. Focus on ‘Marketing Departments’ of corporations. Some products are almost impossible to open due to the plastic packaging.

Govt needs to legislate manufactures to reduce the use of soft plastics if they want to be on Australian shelves. Soft plastic recycling facilities have been turning away the over supply as there simply isn’t enough demand. There are alternative materials easier recycle.

What about the Billions of disposable masks you encouraged. Not a day goes by that you don't see them..everywhere.

Yes produce less of it in the first place. This should be the priority because only a fraction of soft plastics gets anywhere near Redcycle when it is operating, vast proportion will always go to landfill. Most people don’t sand won’t recycle soft plastic.

REDcycle are liars. They can't be trusted. Why not use a competent company?

I’m not hearing the solution here at all. The supermarkets will “take responsibility “ for the piles they already collected. How? If their is no solution in this country, how can they possibly start collecting again. I’m not hearing how this has been solved Tanya?

I’ve been returning my soft plastic to the supermarket for years. Now I have to put that stuff in the regular garbage and it hurts every time. We desperately need this program back up and running. This is great news.

What is the commercial model for the recycling of soft plastics? It sounds like there wasn’t a viable market for Redcycle to generate income out of this recycling, what is the model now that will make this sustainable? Are we just pushing the problem one step down the chain?

read somewhere we’re aiming for a functioning circular economy by 2030. that’s a massive task esp. when we can’t even get recycling basics right. how long have we been recycling?

Should be council's responsibility.Not supermarket's.

Let’s hope the big supermarkets actually follow through. The duopoly in this country make insane profits especially recently and they should use them to find an innovative way to reduce waste and recycle the plastic waste they profit off.

Eternally growing our population -- as you intend to do -- will ensure we have an endlessly growing volume of 'stuff' in circulation. Recycling's merit really only exists in a non-growth environment. But you'd know that!

So the point of you press release is to say the government doesn’t know what to do and the supermarkets are stepping up to deal with it for you and you have no clue how to deal with it going forward other than announcing you are throwing money at it but don’t know how to use it🤦‍♂️

Sad that Labor is funded by fossil fuel co.s, & supports expansion of FF pollution while bullish*tting about the rort of offsets, the faster our planet is destroyed & the more waste of tax money. Still you won't #stopnativelogging or talk with Greens.
