New Jersey Governor Governor Mikie Sherrill says the state is now in the thick of the storm, with heavy snow in the north and increasing ice moving northward through it. A state of emergency was declared to get more equipment on the roads, transit has been suspended for safety, and mutual aid power crews are already staged and responding. Road crews, troopers, and utility workers are working around the clock as impacts continue. Stay safe, New Jersey!

In Calais we speak to some of the thousands of migrants hoping to cross on small boats from northern France into the UK - risking their lives in the process. More than 20,000 people have crossed the Channel in small boats so far this year. The Government has promised to tackle the smuggling gangs behind the dangerous journeys. France and the UK are jointly funding police operations along the French coast and both countries are considering a "one in, one out" deal and allowing French officers to venture further from the shoreline to stop boats from leaving. That may be revealed when President Macron visits London next week.

I recently visited the site of Highway 413, where work is already well underway as we prepare to start construction next year! Crews are on site, drilling and testing the soil, and they’re already designing bridges and interchanges as they map out the best route forward. I can’t wait to be back in the coming months to see even more progress that will help get drivers moving across the GTA. Listen below for more details ⬇️

The Black Sea coast is grappling with an ecological disaster following an oil spill caused by the sinking of two tankers in the Kerch Strait on December 15. The spill has affected 800 square kilometres, and the tanker continues to leak, according to TASS. Bags of collected oil are being washed back into the sea or buried on beaches, worsening the situation. Officials claim to be ramping up clean-up efforts with additional equipment, 350,000 bags for oil collection, and soil removal to prevent deeper contamination. However, volunteers report a lack of equipment and personnel, leaving clean-up to individuals with shovels. Storms have exacerbated the crisis, tearing bags and causing repeated pollution. Tragically, 13 dead dolphins were found on Krasnodar Krai shores overnight.
