Respectfully, Gaza is not Algeria or Vietnam. Israel did in fact unilaterally withdraw from Gaza in 2005. Instead of getting a loving neighbor, it got thousands of rockets lobbed into its territory indiscriminately and the largest massacre of Jews since the Holocaust.

Justice is the very line from which the movement towards secure peace may begin. Weapons give physical protection, but it is justice that restores the sense of security to life that was protected with the strength of weapons. And justice also brings back the sense of predictability to all global relations. Every potential aggressor should know what awaits him if he ruins peace. It is justice that can ensure this. We have to do everything possible for the strength of justice so that justice provides real strength to our common security – security from aggressions and terror. And let everyone who destroys peace be truly afraid of facing trial in the Hague. I made this statement during the conference "Restoring Justice for Ukraine". It is taking place today in The Hague bringing together states and organizations working to achieve justice for Ukraine. The conference aims to assess progress in the investigation of Russian war crimes and in the coordination of international efforts for justice. #RestoringJusticeForUkraine

Finnish President Stubb: Russia has been waging its war of aggression against Ukraine for almost four years. Its actions are illegal and immoral. We are closer to peace than ever during the war, but at the same time we cannot be sure whether Russia is ready for peace. Peace is most often a compromise, and we must prepare for the fact that all parts of a peace agreement will likely not meet our sense of justice. However, we will do everything we can to ensure that Ukraine’s independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity are preserved. Ukraine is part of a free and democratic Europe now and in the future. We will continue to support Ukraine, we will not tire, and together with our allies we will ensure that Russia will never again attack its neighbor.

Almost 60 years ago, my father, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., spoke with moral clarity about the dangers of war and the consequences of militarism. And here we are again. We are still too often drunk with war and militarism, choosing destruction over understanding and power over principle. The cost continues to be measured in human lives, broken communities, and a world pushed further from peace. We must commit ourselves to the discipline of nonviolence and the hard work of creating the Beloved Community. The time has long passed for us to learn what it means to study war no more. #MLK #Nonviolence #BelovedCommunity
