Andre Iguodala says load management came from Tim Duncan's Spurs playing five seasons in four years and the "players don't want to play" narrative only started when teams that never made the playoffs copied it "Load management came from the Spurs. Iguodala point makes sense. Load management was meant for deep playoff mileage, but the idea got stretched way beyond that.

Duncan was load managed on minutes. Not games. He basically played 70 games every year until age 36 and then he still played 61. They just reduced the minutes. No one paid to see Tim and didn't get to. They just got 30 minutes of him. That's not the load mgmt problem we have

I hate when people blame Duncan and the Spurs for load management. Look at his games played after turning 30. Sure the minutes came down a bit, but that MFer was out there for almost every game

Bron played 15 seasons in 8 years damn near

Imagine going to the finals 8 years in a row

Tim Duncan's Spurs were a different era, still had a clear goal in mind.

ft. Andre Iguodala

Seeing this made me curious about LeBron’s finals streak bro played 763 regular season and playoff games within 8 seasons

This came from Alex McKechnie, the Toronto Raptors' Vice President of Player Health and Performance. When they weren't playing Kawhi in back to backs he was asked what medical reason to put on the report and he said "load management" There is a open gym episode on it

This is exactly why Bron is the goat

The Spurs went back to back finals against the Heat and that’s it. Am I missing something here?

also lots of international players playing with their national team between seasons

Facts. I remember when people was mad at Pop for doing this and now it make sense why. He was resting his star players during games where it was must see tv even though the Spurs was considered a boring team because they wasn’t flashy during those days.

Is anyone aware that soldiers train everyday? There’s no off season. The least miles a soldier will run is when they’re not practicing. And monetarily compared to professional athletes the soldiers are doing it for free.

ok so if the built rules where you play 65 games whats the problem? outside of serious injury, even if you load manage that shouldnt be a problem? hes half right

From '02-03 to '06-07 (5 seasons), SAS played a total of 90 PLAYOFF games. Insane to think about

This just makes me think of LeBron and all those finals in a row

That’s inaccurate, they went to one finals back to back 2013-2014 and they went to 3 straight conference finals. NBA players just be saying anything, and act like we don’t have google

He’s not entirely wrong. The Spurs also limited Tim, Manu and Tony’s minutes as well in some stretches. They were not going to be playing 40-42 minutes on average during the regular season. Not while the team in Bexar County Texas was rolling…

I don't know if load mgt applies to other guys on the roster, but the Spurs international players were almost all playing for their countries in the summers, as well. Ginobili for instance had so many miles on his tires.

Pop held Duncan out of some games like the fourth game in five nights, or a back to back with a long travel time. The guy's knees needed the rest. Helped him extend his career.

That 2013-14 season, i dont think the Spurs played a player more than 30mins and they wont it all!

15-pgdh should help rejuvenate the body.

아 그랬구나 그래서 니가 힘들어서 멤피스에서 한시즌 통으로 쉬었구나

Compete!

Preach

Plus Tony & Manu often played for their respective National Teams during the Summer.
