Sometimes I remember those fluid animations and tiles flipping and it just feels so unreal that this mobile OS existed and Microsoft just dropped it. Bring it back Dan.

I do agree... My "company phone" is a samsung galaxy a14, 2023, and my man is it shit. Back in 2017 I had a lumia as a company one, and it was way smoother, and more stable... Unfortunately by then the app situation was abysmal already, so use case was minimal plus emails... A shame, really interesting devices.

The first Surface ran on Nvidia Tegra ARM chips precisely because the graphics processor and drivers were so much better than others and Nvidia was a fantastic partner. Windows 8 on ARM supported Qualcomm and TI as well. Slide below is from the CES event Jan 2011. It was later that the switch was made to QC only. Here's an old school Windows Phone video of the first time Windows ran on Nvidia Tegra ARM using the desktop compositor which was a BIG deal. Sept 2010.

The talk that Japanese developers were better than European is a simplistic generalization. TURRICAN series shows it.🇩🇪 It's all down to the big 3 (time/budget/quality) and Euro developers were out of time/budget compared to Japan, affecting quality. Not in Turrican, though.👍

This right here is exactly what I felt when I tried switching my main phone from iPhone to Android last year. The apps on Android are so bad they don’t even feel like they’re made for your phone. Plus many apps on Android simply lack a lot of features compared to iOS. For example, on WhatsApp on iOS, I can quickly swipe left on a message in a group chat to see which members have received and/or read my message. On Android, it takes a long press and 2 additional taps to access the same info. This was such a deal breaker for me who’s in a lot of group chats.
