Android vs. iOS app quality difference [Part 8] This one is about two highly-requested media apps: Spotify and Netflix. Netflix is miles better on iOS, but Spotify is about the same in my opinion because each version has one extra feature that's absent on the other. Netflix: - Netflix... on iOS has a very modern design. Cool animations while logging in, and 3D parallax effect on the main title shown on the homepage. Nothing like this on the Android version. - You can use gestures to navigate the titles as shown in the video, and it's coupled with cool animations. Absent on the Android app. Spotify: - On the iOS app, you can use swipe up/down gestures to navigate between the mini-player and main music player UI. Can't do that on Android. - However, on the Android app, you can like a song directly from the notification panel - which is very useful. You can add a song you like to your Liked playlist directly without having to open the app. I believe this is on Apple alone, since they don't allow adding shortcuts like that to media player. 😂😂 I was a very hardcore Android fan and never used an iPhone before 2021. Then I started using one and loved it so much. Now I use both but very much prefer iOS.

Yeah seems like most app devs will tune the iOS app to work well with the few iPhone models there are whereas for Android phones it is a one size fits all. I gotta say tho, the S23U screen is jaw dropping. Bezels appear minimal and rectangular body maximizes the screen.

But iOS does suck. Android is much better.

Swiping from the right side of the screen to go back is still better than swiping it down though.

Why do we need a swipe down gesture when there is a universal back gesture which iOS lacks?

I don’t believe this is a fair criticism with this comparison. Android has a back gesture, iOS does not. I don’t think it’s a negative for the app developer to leverage system gestures to navigate the app, keeping it consistent from app to app. iOS, you need to figure that out.
