The former Deputy Prime Minister told UK Editor Paul Brand: “I just think that we should all be working together. I think that's the important thing. I'm not doing deals or anything like that. The Labour NEC must make its view clear now and end the uncertainty. If a leadership contest is triggered, the Labour Party cannot exclude the most popular politician of any political party in the U.K. Andy Burnham also has significant executive experience as a former cabinet minister and successful Metro Mayor. The NEC and PM must be explicit that in the event of a contest Andy Burnham will not be blocked should he stand. This should be decided and communicated now. See my interview from Channel 4 below:
