Andy Burnham’s reply when asked a question about farming at the Dispatch Box this week was shocking. ‘I'm probably not renowned for spending much time on farms. I'm more likely to be found in the northern quarter of Manchester’ I couldn’t believe the Prime Minister of a country -...

What is shameful is the pride he takes in his ignorance of farming as though it’s cool. Without farms we starve. Is that clear enough for him? Yes we can import, but we shouldn’t have to. And we no longer have a navy able to protect the sea lanes that deliver imported food.

And he does have some farms in his Constituency! Shows how little intrest he shows in Makerfield. Interestingly he says he spends more time in the Northern Quarter in Manchester! Miles away from Makerfield!

He's not interested in the country or the indigenous people, just power, taxing and lining his own pocket...traitor and worse than Starmer

@JeremyClarkson and his Clarkson's Farm show has shown us all the problems famers go through to produce food for us. Weather, costs, hours spent with land and animals. All for pittance and too much bureaucracy. Yet still the love what they do.... 🐑🐐🐄🌾

First we had “ my father was a toolmaker” as a constant refrain, now it’s “ let me tell you about my time in Manchester as Mayor” from bus pass Burnham.

There is so little expertise among Burn'em's Labour colleagues that he can't even draw on them when he himself is so lacking in depth of knowledge and leadership skills.

If he ever ate anything in the Northern Quarter - Pieminister perhaps? - chances are at least some if not all of it will have been sourced from a farm. Hasn't been long, but I'm already convinced he's going to be a disaster - even worse than the last one.

Are you insane - the PM basically said he was not an expert on farming and you criticise him for being honest?

Burnham and his useless incompetent corrupt government are utterly clueless about most things. They're liars and traitors to the indigenous white British people. They especially hate farmers 😡😡😡

Do you remember the battering you lot gave farmers after Brexit . I didn’t you’d remember but it doesn’t stop you trying for the pathetic gotcha . Also there is no such thing as family farm tax .

There’s no such thing as a “Family Farm Tax”. Are you referring to Estate Duty, a tax which farmers pay at half the rate as the rest of us and which they have ten more years to pay than we do?

Keir Starmer looked much more intelligent and capable than he was but Andy B has the good grace to appear much as the through and through rather cocky twerp that he is. A kind of integrity even.

@andyburnham really too obtuse and dim to understand that without farming there is no Northern Quarter in Manchester. There's no Deansgate, no Canal Street, no Spinningfields. There's no Manchester. What a low calibre ignoramus. The UK has a mediocre Parish Councillor as PM.

Total disregard to farmers. He could go and spend a day with a dairy farm and would soon have an understanding. The same with the NHS, schools etc.

Listen to Spencer 👇👇👇 “Farmers are now having to pay inheritance tax on the farm. For a good example. The farm I mainly work on.. it's 550 acres. That's worth just shy of 5 million pounds before thinking about the machinery, houses and other assets. That's a small just about viable farm 550 acre farm. That's alot of assets but the farm is poor. There's not much pennies in the bank. When my employer dies his sons will have to pay 2 ½ million in tax to inherit the farm roughly ( I failed gcse maths by the way 😅) This simply isn't a number any farm can afford. The only way to pay that is crippling loans that his sons can't afford to pay back or to sell half the farm. If you sell half the farm. The farm isn't worth farming at 250 acres Can't make a living on half of their farm. So they would sell the lot. That then means in the first instance 5 jobs are lost. The future generations without a job. That's not taking into consideration the agronomist who is the crop doctor. Or the accountant who keeps the accounts in order. The seed and chemical companies who sell us the products. The Mills who use our wheat. The list goes on. This will happen to the majority of farming in the next 30 years because the average age of a farmer is in their 60s. We will see a total decimation of British farming. While I will never own a farm or inherit a farm this still effects me. The industry I've Been in since I could walk may vanish. Some monster sized farms like James Dysons will stand. But not the humble family farm. When I work on a family farm, I'm part of the family. We laugh together, talk about our lives, our family, we help each other out where we can. Favours without payments. When you join a family farm. You become part of the family. That's something I don't want to ever loose. If you can spare the time. Join me and hundreds if not thousands of farmers at Westminster on the 19th November. The nfu are holding an opening venue for 600. Register below if spaces are left. (If not, stand with us at Westminster shortly after) Please come with us and back british farming. Remember, no farmers no food no future. Best wishes Spencer Campbell” #SaveBritishFarming

Autonomous farming at Reservoir Farms in Salinas. When I got here joined a bunch of farmers from Florida who were visiting. But during the talks Bonsai Robotics caught my attention. One of the first to use world models to drive autonomous farm equipment. Here's their CEO, Tyler Niday, talking to me about what's going on in farming around the world. And of course we talk about world models. My favorite topic lately. They have robots farming in Australia and here in America in a variety of places. He ran autonomous tractors for John Deere USA for years. Reservoir Farms is an incubator—think of it like Y Combinator or Founders Inc., but for people who are making autonomous, AI-driven tractors and other farm equipment. It's a remarkable place. Worth telling anyone in farming about. @bernsteind, who runs it, used to work at Google in high tech and got the bug to help startups hit the farming market. He has a fairly big plot of land to do all sorts of testing, demos, and development work here in Salinas, with about 40 acres of a variety of different crops. That is something you can't do in Silicon Valley anymore. It takes me back to my childhood when Silicon Valley used to be all farms. It was a lot of fun hanging out with the farmers. They'll be doing some events and hackathons down here. If you're from Silicon Valley, it's only an hour south, and I highly recommend coming down to see what's going on. The AI part of farming is very similar to building an autonomous car or truck, so the kinds of jobs are very similar. The market is just very different, and the kinds of things a robot needs to figure out are different. You might be picking apples or spraying crops. You don't have pedestrian traffic, maybe, but you have other kinds of things you need to train and model on to work around. Anyways, I had a beautiful day hanging out here.
