Why would evolutionary psychology begin with the psychosocial aspects of anger, rather than the instinctual benefits of anger as a survival adaptation for the chaotic and hostile world of our ancestral past?

Anger would have been a powerful dominance-asserting tool in our ancestral arsenal, but we now live in a world that has grown to accommodate morality, justice and courtesy. (Or at least, it purports to.) Acting in anger is rarely a sound strategy in modern times. At best, we’re left volleying anger like a hot potato. At worst, we’re left injured or in jail. Rarely does acting in anger ever lead to those seven words that we crave most. (More here if curious:

And let's not forget that anger is amazing fuel/energy boost. It'll keep you up for days.

One could say it’s about boundaries and defense, most animals have territorial behaviors.
