Angus: As Canadians, we have to start really getting serious about defending ourselves and creating our own sustainable democracy because we're watching the fall of the American empire. And it is happening in real time.

Charlie Angus on impact of Canadian boycott of US travel: "Many tourist locations are talking about drops of 50% ... There's areas where the losses have been as high as 80%. We're not bragging as Canadians. We're doing something to defend our sovereignty and put the pressure on MAGA."

Charlie Angus: It's been amazing since we started the MeidasCanada Network. Nobody ever really noticed anybody from Canada, unless we were Neil Young or Mike Myers. But I think there's a real searching right now as we are in such uncertain times and people are watching Canada and people are listening to what's happening. So the MeidasCanada viewership has developed a strong hold around the world. What we're trying to do is build that conversation — a conversation across borders, across the United States, across Europe, across Asia — about democracy. And Canada, I think right now, plays a role in it in a very significant way.

Angus: It's the 10th anniversary of Brexit. Things haven't gone well ... This is something Canada needs to pay attention to because we are in our Brexit summer with Danielle Smith's upcoming referendum in Alberta. And I have to say that I am very concerned that those whose job it is to protect our democracy are asleep at the switch.

“We cannot complain about external interference while at the same time creating the conditions that produce it. Sovereignty is not just about defending borders. It is about taking responsibility for our security, both as states, and collectively as a continent. The key to overcoming security challenges, lies in our ability to produce our own solutions.” President Kagame #ISCA2025

“We have no apology to anybody that we invited one of our own as a Muslim preacher to come and talk to us about Islam and the Quran. And we will do it again and again. Because we believe in what we tell one another and we have to tell ourselves the truth…” - Sultan of Sokoto

🇺🇸 ANDREW TATE: ALL SYSTEMS COLLAPSE, DEMOCRACY IS NEXT "All systems are broken. Democracy is a good system, but it becomes corrupted. And obviously, dictatorships are not a perfect system either. All systems eventually collapse under the weight of their own ineptitude, because all systems are inept. It is a cycle in which democracy falls to a kingdom of some sort, where we find a savior. Eventually, when the king dies and is replaced by someone inept, we then call to choose our own king, and democracy returns. I'm not saying I have the solution to this, because all empires have fallen the same way. What I'm saying, and what I'm doing, is lamenting the end of democracy as we know it, because it is happening in front of our eyes."

Kirsten Gillibrand on getting money out of politics: "When in America today, 100 billionaire families are responsible for one in every six dollars, that's an outrage. It means that they have an outsized voice in our democracy. And it means they set an agenda that doesn't respond to the needs of the American people. We need the American people's voice to be heard."

Marjorie Taylor Greene: We're a year in, a year in, and we're in another fucking war, and we've got American troops being killed. I think it's time for America to rip the band-aid off, and we need to have a serious conversation about what the fuck is happening to this country.

Kamala Harris: We cannot despair. We cannot despair. The nature of a democracy is such that I think there's a duality. On the one hand, there's an incredible strength when our democracy is intact. An incredible strength in what it does to protect the freedoms and rights of its people. Oh, there's great strength in that. And it is very fragile. It is only as strong as our willingness to fight for it. And so that's the moment we're in. And I say do not despair because in a democracy, as long as we can keep it, in our democracy the people, every individual has the power to make a decision about what this will be. And so let's not feel powerless. Because then we have been defeated. And that's not our character as the American people. We are not one to be defeated. We rise to a moment and we stand on broad shoulders of people who have fought this fight before for our country. And in many ways let us look at the challenge then that we are being presented and not be overwhelmed by it. The baton is now in our hands, to fight for, not against, but for this country we love.

Meiselas: We need to really reevaluate and reflect on what the hell is happening with Israel. We have to all acknowledge the genocide taking place in Palestine right now. We have to all work to make sure that it is American policy to stop this genocide. And it should be disqualifying for anybody who doesn't call it a genocide and who doesn't work to end the genocide and who doesn't work for a Palestinian state.

Angus: What he's saying is on the 250th anniversary of the founding of the Republic, the only thing you're getting is a cage match. The only thing you're getting is debasement. And what are you going to do about it? If you do nothing about it, then he wins.

🧚‍♀️: Actually, P’Freen and I share the same opinion… we don’t see it as a Girl Love category. We see it as just a series about two people who fall in love, who have their own journey and their own story. Our goal is to make the audience fall in love with the characters. And we know that in that aspect, we succeeded with "Gap The Series," because everyone enjoyed watching it. We didn’t feel like we had to learn something completely newjust that we had to do our homework in certain parts. #ฟรีนเบค #FreenBecky

What a time to be alive. We're watching the governor of a major American state have a nervous breakdown in real time. The level of irresponsibility and recklessness is off the chart. And the media is apparently totally cool with it. Live reaction. 👇

Something amazing is happening across the country — people are standing up. It was great to join Colorado Friends of Democracy & Denver Visible Indivisible as we talk about Defending Democracy.
