I can’t possibly list the animals that could go extinct. Innocent Pangolins deserve protection It has been proposed that from bats, “Guangdong Pangolins are the intermediate hosts that adapted the SARS-CoV-2 and represented a significant evolutionary link in the path of transmission of SARS-CoV-2 virus to humans”. Pangolins are among the most trafficked mammals in the world. Their scales are highly valued in traditional medicine in parts of Asia, and their meat is considered a delicacy in some cultures. This illegal wildlife trade, coupled with habitat loss, has led to a severe decline in pangolin populations, with all species of pangolin being listed as either vulnerable, endangered or critically endangered. Pangolins are unique mammals known for their distinct appearance, characterised by their protective keratin scales covering their skin. They are insectivorous, feeding mainly on ants and termites, which they extract from their nests using long, sticky tongues. A crucial part of their ecosystems, awareness and education about the plight of pangolins is essential for their conservation.
