The shot Tiger hit for me and my son. 2018 Open at Carnoustie. My son was 8. Not into golf yet — but the Open was in our back garden, and this might be his only chance to see Tiger live. So I brought him to the course and we went hunting. Found Tiger on the 8th. Swamped. Thousands deep. My boy couldn't see a thing. Local knowledge. We skipped ahead to the 11th and waited. Clear line of sight across to the 10th. Got there before the crowds. Tiger hit his tee shot on 10 into the bunker. 151 from the pin, a few feet from the face. And then he hit the greatest bunker shot I have ever seen live. Just us on the side of 11. Almost nobody else around. It felt like he hit it just for us. My boy is a caddie at Carnoustie now. And he tells everyone about the time his dad brought him to see the Tiger — and the Tiger put on a show for what felt like just the two of them. One of the most fascinating moments I’ve ever witnessed in Tadoba. 🐅🦌 A tiger was walking calmly towards our gypsy, still at a good distance. We watched him continuously for almost 5 minutes. Then something incredible happened… Instead of running away, a group of deer started following the tiger from a safe distance. The tiger even turned back 2–3 times to look at them before continuing on its way. My understanding is that once a tiger has been detected, it loses its biggest advantage stealth. By keeping the predator in sight, the deer may be ensuring it can’t disappear into cover and launch a surprise attack. A known danger can sometimes be less risky than an unseen one. But I’m curious… Why do you think the deer were following the tiger? Was the tiger already full after a successful hunt? Were the deer intentionally keeping track of the predator? Or is there another behavioral explanation? I’d love to hear the thoughts of wildlife experts and fellow safari enthusiasts. #Tadoba #Tiger

The encounter took place between Indian Army Major Rohit Shukla and the top Hizbul Mujahideen commander, terrorist 'Sameer Tiger'. Just 24 hours before the clash on April 29, 2018 a video of Sameer Tiger went viral on social media; in it, he was seen torturing a local informant and issuing a direct challenge to Major Rohit Shukla. On May 19, 2005, when Namjoon was a 10-year-old fifth-grade elementary school student, he wrote & shared his first poem for a competition. The poem was titled “The Korean Tiger and Reunification. "My poem (for the competition) “The Korean Tiger and Reunification” Not a small rabbit, but an intimidating tiger. The tiger broke his back. This tiger’s broken back makes him whimper and gives him endless pain. China, Japan, and the US all looked down on us, calling us a rabbit and not a tiger. But when the tiger’s back heals clean, the world will not be able to look down on us anymore. The South will resemble the North and the North will resemble the South. When the two colors on the flag mix to become purple in unity, the 70 million citizens will become one and look up at the sky with hands in hands. The day will come. An IPS officer walked in, gave a short speech, and boom — everyone was convinced and agreed to clear the track. The way he handled the situation was truly phenomenal. Both the officer and the protestors (who understood his points) deserve praise for it. Protest is a right, but it shouldn't cause trouble for common people.

Let me first get this personal (shameful) record off my chest: I have never seen a tiger in the wild, despite having tried to, in many jungle safaris. Our territory has always been the jungle that spans across the three Southern states - Karnataka (Bandipur, Nagarhole), Tamil Nadu (Mudumalai), and Kerala (Wayanad). From Bengaluru, I may have been to one or the other safaris at least once every 2-3 years or so, with the family. But no tiger sighting... ever! Earlier this week, we checked into Serai at Kabini, into a spectacular river-facing cottage. And we did two safaris - a jungle safari in the early morning and a river safari in the evening. But, no tiger sighted, as per our sorry luck. We checked out on Friday morning, as planned, and started our drive back to Bengaluru. After driving for a kilometer, we thought completely at random, 'Why not stay for another night and try to change our terrible luck?'. Yes, it is expensive, but beyond the fact that we can afford it, there was also a thought that we are overindulging in this holiday! But the tiger (or the lack of sighting one) won in the end, and we stopped by the road and started calling the resorts nearby for room availability for that day. Luckily, Kaav Safari Lodge, had a room available and we realized that we were calling them from right outside their resort, literally! We checked in, had lunch and headed for the afternoon safari! And, towards the end, we were rewarded with our first ever tiger sighting! Not just a distant sighting but of a female tiger getting up from a slumber, walking towards our jeep, pissing on a tree (not mere pissing, but marking its territory, as we got to know), walk scarily close to our jeep, and cross the road very calmly! And now I realize what pure magic this magnificent animal is! Thanks to breaking convention, ignoring best laid plans, and doing the unexpected! On that note, considering all these old forest jeeps and canters make such a racket, why don't we have silent, electric vehicles inside the forest yet, to not disturb animals?

He left behind a wife and three children after serving on the Police Department for 21 years. His daughter, Shelby (18), gave a moving eulogy full of compassion for the man who took her father from her, a true testament to the man Sergeant Houston was and the values he instilled in his daughter.

Spoke with Eye of the Tiger promoter, Camille Estephan , regarding the Ramirez-Richards decision. He sent me a video, highlighting Richards’ low blows which, along with some comments, I have attached below. “Honestly, I didn’t sit and judge the fight but it was an unfortunate performance in the sense that it was a very boring fight. “Wrestling and hugging is not what I want to present to our fans. The video I sent you is maybe one of the reasons that the judges rendered their decision. “One thing is for sure, we have been used to very exciting performances at Eye of the Tiger and that was definitely not acceptable for a main event.” When asked whether he would be interested in a rematch, in order for Ramirez to right the wrongs of the first fight, Estephan told me, “the fight was so boring, I want to make exciting fights”, insinuating that he hopes to avoid a second meeting. Spoke with Eye of the Tiger promoter, Camille Estephan , regarding the Ramirez-Richards decision. He sent me a video, highlighting Richards’ low blows which, along with some comments, I have attached below. “Honestly, I didn’t sit and judge the fight but it was an unfortunate performance in the sense that it was a very boring fight. “Wrestling and hugging is not what I want to present to our fans. The video I sent you is maybe one of the reasons that the judges rendered their decision. “One thing is for sure, we have been used to very exciting performances at Eye of the Tiger and that was definitely not acceptable for a main event.” When asked whether he would be interested in a rematch, in order for Ramirez to right the wrongs of the first fight, Estephan told me, “the fight was so boring, I want to make exciting fights”, insinuating that he hopes to avoid a second meeting. Still, a rematch could take place, with Richards and his team having officially appealed the decision of the fight on Tuesday, as per Dave Coldwell. Eye of the Tiger Lerrone Richards 🐝 #Boxing

Burt Lancaster on why Frank Perry was the wrong choice to direct "The Swimmer" (1968) & the directors he felt would have handled it better: "'The Swimmer' (1968) is certainly one of my favorites. It's a John Cheever story and there was the very difficult problem of translating a literary work to the screen. Cheever speaks in the short story of how a man is walking through a lane and he smells a fire, it's an autumn fire; he describes it as the smell of autumn in the air. Well, that kind of thing in writing is lovely, especially in Cheever's phrases, but when you try to get this quality onto film, it requires some kind of approach. I'll say that I don't think Frank Perry was able to do this, and I don't know that any other director would have been. But you certainly need someone like a Fellini or a Truffaut, or someone with that kind of imagination to let the camera also tell your story. Film has its own particular life—regardless of what's actually going on in a film. And it needed some kind of strange, weird approach to capture the audience and make them realize that, in a way, they were not looking at anything real. In talking about the script we would say, "I don't know why two men in white coats don't come take this guy away." It should have been obvious that this man was going through something that was not quite real; it was all part of his imagination. But it was played in a realistic sense—so when you come to the end of that film, instead of being sympathetic and heartbroken for the man, you were surprised and shocked."
