When Baby Clyde arrived at the shelter last December he could barely walk at all. When I adopted him he had already had one surgery on his leg and he walked with a limp. When I first saw videos of sweet little Jimothy, the way he hobbled around reminded me of Baby Clyde and my mom said the same thing. I got Baby Clyde a second surgery on his leg and now he runs, jumps and bunny hops with no problem like a total champion! Baby Clyde is so resilient and a fighter just like Jimothy. I’m in awe of how fast he’s been healing from his trauma and overcoming his medical issues. He inspires me every single day. Be like Baby Clyde and Jimothy. 💕

An addition to the already star studded RareBreeds perennial Yfbplayoff winning squad, Wright has brought a 'Florida swagger' to a team that dominated 40-14. "The coaching." said Wright on what has elevated him to the top of his age group. "I've been working with the right coaching, learning how to not be selfish and always just do the best I can. Normally tall, bigger guys can't play the way I play. I'm athletic for my size and that's really the biggest part of my game that makes me different." Intangible-wise he checks every single box the same as his size. Wright was able to run multiple routes and did not simply rely on being the biggest skill position player on the field. Unfortunately he won't take the room for 5 days because as he puts it, it's not permanent and he believes he will be back on the streets afterwards as it's happened to him previously he tells me. I've tried my hardest to reassure him that I won't let that happen but he says he's been let down so many times before that he just doesn't believe it and is happy where he is until I can find him a permanent room in a shared house I've spoken with him long and hard over the last week and I've come to the conclusion based on everything he's told me and my research that he's not a British army veteran with a service number he talks of being a mercenary part of the 13 commandos part of the French foreign legion and has the cap badge on his hat. What I do know is he's a 59 year old man with health problems but no drug or alcohol problems that is living in a tent in wasteland. My level of support hasn't changed he shouldn't be in wasteland in a tent rotting away with no family no support in 2025 I'm going to try my hardest this week to secure a room in a shared house the 5 night stay at the guest house is non refundable but it is what it is I just wanted to make sure he woke up on his 60th birthday in a better place. We tried our hardest but it doesn't always work out how you planned it in your head. Thank you all for sharing and raising awareness and thank you to Robert a long time supporter who has purchased a birthday cake for me to give him tomorrow 💙

Sergeant Williams sat against that wall thinking he shouldn't have come here at all. He's 52 years old. Iraq veteran. Lost his right leg below the knee to an IED 2008. His German Shepherd passed away seven months ago. He came to Harbor Ridge Shelter last Saturday thinking maybe he was foolish. Maybe no dog would want someone with a prosthetic. Someone who can't run or hike properly. Maybe being an amputee meant no dog would connect with him. He sat against the wall and watched everyone else. Young families being mobbed by energetic puppies. Couples playing fetch with excited dogs. College kids being jumped on by playful rescues. Then one German Shepherd mix quietly walked away from all the activity. Named Duke. Nine-year-old mutt. Duke walked past the family with eight children actively calling to him. Past the young couple on the floor playing. Past the teenagers with treats and toys. Walked straight to Sergeant Williams. Lay down directly at his feet. Right next to his prosthetic leg. Just stayed there. Looking up at him with calm, steady eyes. Sergeant Williams covered his face with both hands. Started crying so hard his whole body shook. Couldn't stop. Couldn't control it. Shelter volunteer told us through tears: "Duke walked past at least thirty other people. Including children literally on the ground playing with him. Made a straight line to Sergeant Williams. Lay down right next to his prosthetic leg. Chose him deliberately and immediately. It was the most beautiful thing l've ever seen in my entire life." Sergeant Williams adopted Duke eight hours later. The walking was preparation. By the time they crossed the threshold, they had already left the world behind in their bodies, in their feet, in their breath. They arrived primed for the encounter. You will not walk a thousand miles. You can walk a mile. You can fast that morning. You can sit in the car for fifteen minutes before going in, with no phone, doing nothing but settling your spirit. Someone just sent me this: “We was sat on the small lake in Wally park and me nephew was sitting abar 10 feet away n tha fella in the lake walked past us while fishing n started speaking to him n said can I take u for 10 minutes. Me nephews jumped up said hes weird n repeated what the fella said so ive flew over one thing led to another n he was in the lake. He was chatting bad English n hes only been here 6 months all shit. Plod came walked him out the park not cuffed or ntn kept him overnight n interviewed him. Released no charges. Just to let people know bro coz he’d been walking round filming before it n plod do fuck all”. Nothing new here. Just your daily invader trying to r@pe our children.
