A tragic incident occurred at the Dubare Elephant Camp in Karnataka's Kodagu district, where a woman tourist lost her life after an elephant reportedly fell on her during a clash between two elephants. The accident took place while elephants were being bathed in the Cauvery River at the Dubare camp. During the bathing session, an elephant named Kanjan allegedly attacked another elephant, Marthanda. It’s a sign of the times: When food and water are plentiful, elephants can aggregate in great numbers without putting too much stress on the landscape. This ecosystem is home to Kenya’s biggest population of elephants. Spanning 50,000 square kilometres, it is prime elephant country. Two persons are reported dead following a road accident at Lapaz, directly in front of the Papaye Fast Foods - Lapaz Branch. Eyewitnesses say the driver of a black vehicle was allegedly using a mobile phone and failed to observe a red traffic signal before crashing into another vehicle. The impact reportedly forced the second vehicle into an okada rider and a pedestrian who was crossing the road. At 9:20 the camera sees an elephant herd gathering in a tea garden and will move towards the village. Control room sees the activity. Message is sent to nearby team. Team reaches there immediately and guide the elephants back to forest. Many such incidents are checked every night by our vigil teams. Some gets captured in a nice way. Like this one.
