Oromo Apartheid Rule in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia under Abiy Ahmed Ali 🇪🇹 This was a message sent to journalist Belete Kassa Mekonnen today (August 29th, 2024) from an Amhara taxi driver in Addis Ababa “Belete, I have been a regular follower of your work for a long time. I have no doubts about the reliability of your information. We understand that the politics of ethnic favoritism serves personal interests rather than benefiting the country. Some of the things that are being seen and heard in Addis Ababa are unfathomable. In Addis Ababa, there have been issues regarding transportation services where Amhara transportation drivers are being unfairly treated by Oromo drivers. At departure points, Oromo drivers, without their turn to load passengers, are preventing Amhara drivers from loading passengers, insisting that Amhara drivers cannot load passengers ahead of Oromo drivers. They tell Amhara drivers that if they don't comply, they should go to their Amhara country to work. We don’t expect a solution, but please make sure this information reaches the public or is made known."
