I feel like having that flexibility is his only real chance to stick in the big leagues. These numbers are great but the list of MLB players with 2000+ PAs and a wRC+ as bad as volpe eventually becoming league average hitters is zilch.

Volpe will be playing 2b next season for the Mets or another team not the Yankees.

Everyone forgets Volpe was playing hurt in 2025 and had surgery in the offseason. He didn’t play the entire spring training.. He is just getting healthy.

once judge is back cabby’s positional versatility really just isn’t needed. He becomes essentially the 6th OF and at best the 5th next year. So now you have a guy with very little offensive upside and just isn’t a very good glove outside of SS. Which he won’t really play SS.
