So cool! Distinctly reminded of turtle graphics (a popular way to learn programming)

Very cool. I do mine by hand

This is awesome, thanks for sharing!

It looks like a tiny city - great concept.

It is! A super busy one!

This algorithmic art piece is 🤩

so cool! love to learn more about the process

Thanks! I did a write up of the creation of this body of work here 👉

I like seeing how others run their nextdraws. You got full throttle on that pen raise, im too chicken to slam it like that

Oh yeah it’s probably a little over tuned tbh.

Are you doing tape? I'd like to get a large piece of steel and powder coat it for neodymium magnets. Im so tired of taping my paper down 😭

My artframe works that way and it’s great, but for these, i use a Nextdraw and tape down my media.

I don’t think this is what they meant when they said pick up a pen

What pen is that? This is super sweet by the way

Thanks! This is a pilot Kakuno. They’re my favourite for pen plotting.

@aquaticaru Imagine what it would create with a pen library it could select from

@toThePixel need this feature

@toThePixel It would actually be so cool to give a robot art materials of all kinds and see what it does

@toThePixel imagine an origami drawing 3d printing sculpting painting robot we are living in the future

@toThePixel A robot art school dude

@toThePixel full stack art robot

Also- how many lines of code is this?! It has got to be a monster

A lot… I’d have to check but easily 5k+ of zero-AI code.

Ahh handcrafted- the traditional way :)

lazy mfer

Very cool. I tried something similar with my robotic arm, and it looks terrible. The error margins were so high. Can’t even write “welcome” properly on a big a4 sheet.

OCD off the charts. ...now do it by hand 😜

Awesome

“Wait, did you know that there's a direct correlation between the decline in Spirograph and the rise in gang activity?”

What a cool project! congrats!

I like that sound 😁

Here

the details are crazy cool

Inkjet printing.

Curious, what’s the cost on a setup like this?

The machine is from @bantamtools and costs around $1850 fully assembled. Pens are $12 and paper is $6 per sheet.

i love this

🤨

This is art. Made by a machine. But art.

What type of plotter is? Nice arm 😉

This is really lovely. So the entire design is programmatically defined?

Thank you, it is (with a caveat)! I devised a way to create illustrations of buildings (and other city things) and incorporate them algorithmically into the final artwork with a custom pipeline.

Okay. I’m stunned

That’s Art Basel stuff

Looks like an old Calcomp pen plotter from 1988. This is how they used to make early CAD drawings. Before that we drew it by hand.

Amazing

WOW 🔥👌

The steadiness

Sorry to say, but with the fountain pen writing such precise symbols, this could only be an AI-generated film.

Fuuuuck you caught me

cool

Whoa!! That’s insane

Love this one
