i bet you haven't seen a SO101 mounted on a wall like this before if you want to do the same, here is LeSlider: i built it cause i wanted something that can cover my whole desk for tasks like organizing and cleaning i originally wanted to have a belt system like what 3D printers have, but i was too lazy and used a pinion/track with another sts3215 so: > the extra motor shares the same bus as the rest of SO101 > you can have arbitrary length of track > really cheap and easy to assemble and control it turned out better than expected with this, i'm gonna train a model to pick random stuff up across my table and put it into a bin at the end of table (realistically using yolo to scan table, two policies, one for picking up objects, one for dropping)

I know it's just one play, but I see too much of this on Kenneth Walker's tape. To kick ass in this scheme you have to have an instinctive feel for where to go, but you also have to have vision. This is an example of Walker lacking that. MASSIVE lane that's sliding to this left, and yet he appears to almost run directly into the one clump of defenders instead of just taking it north/south and hitting it as hard as he can. The creator on this piece of footage (shoutout to Saturday Morning Inspection) says "good finish, good run" and yet it could/should have been SO much more. A 5 yard run could have been 10 yards, 15, or much more. He's not a Seahawks in 2026. Period.

Creating content for large audiences is hard... I like to frame advice for how to exercise into 3 buckets. Enough Better Optimal yes... You can argue semantics about 'optimal,' etc., with me all day long. But keep in mind... most people out there are doing nothing. We need to help them move the needle. They're afraid to start... they're worried... they have a ton of questions... this is my lived experience in the office over decades. This was one of many topics in an awesome podcast recorded with Alan Couzens and Iñaki de la Parra today -- you'll need to wait to hear about the other 10 topics ;-).

This guy lives way out in the middle of nowhere. About an hour ago police came speeding down the road — one officer on a motorcycle pulled over, jumped into another car with the others, and they took off. But they left the entire police motorcycle sitting there completely unattended… with what he describes as a police-issue AR rifle still strapped to it, a baton, and even a Yeti cup just sitting out in the open. And the wildest part is that this is exactly where his kids get off the school bus — only 20 feet away. What do you think he should do in this situation, call the police department? I probably would have made that call already.

This week’s music offering is the Mendelssohn Octet in E Flat major, which he composed when he was 16 (you were hopefully fumbling around with girls at 16, but Mendelssohn was different). It’s scored for 4 violins, 2 violas and 2 cellos - and it inaugurated a new form of chamber music - something beyond the standard string quartet. What you have here is the exposition of the primary themes you will hear repeated and developed during the first movement - which lasts about 15 minutes overall (I will link the entire recording in the next post). If you listen to this excerpt closely - you will recognize what you hear later, and be able to appreciate how Mendelssohn is playing with the themes. This is 1825, so we’ve already started to go beyond very strict and observable delineation of themes - they kind of bleed into one another without very clear breaks. But one pointer is the opening 10 seconds gives you the core of the first theme, and by the time you hear the pizzicato (plucking of the strings - you will see it too) you’re into the second theme group. Once you’ve got that in your head - you can listen to the entire first movement and have a good idea what is going on without any technical knowledge - just as a listener. I like Mendelssohn a lot. Probably will post more of his work over time.
